"Hmm," she paused briefly, then Ella Pemberton asked, "May I ask?"
"Continue training, I will be distracted, and it might affect their training progress," Franklin Cody replied with a stern face.
"Distracted?" Ella Pemberton was quite puzzled but soon frowned in thought, and then it dawned on her, "Because of whom... Oh, is it Nancy Phillips?"
Franklin Cody did not hide it and admitted candidly.
"Cough, cough—cough, cough—cough, cough—"
Unexpectedly, from behind them came violent coughing sounds, as if something had choked someone.
Franklin Cody’s eyebrows knitted instantly, and as he turned around, he saw Rowdy Brightwill leaning against the wall, coughing.
For a moment, the expression in his eyes darkened as if shrouded in a layer of black fog.
Caught off guard like this, Ella Pemberton’s complexion also showed noticeable embarrassment.
After a while, Rowdy Brightwill finally caught his breath, quickly patted his chest, and casually tossed the pear core he had been holding into a nearby trash can.
"I really didn’t mean to eavesdrop."
Noticing the looks from the two of them, Rowdy Brightwill also realized what was happening and raised his hands to show his innocence.
He was indeed innocent.
In that sickroom, Nancy Phillips and Jessie Grain were chatting, paying him no mind at all, and Flossie Wright was peeling an apple, only occasionally speaking a few words to him.
It was just so boring.
So, he’d decided to step out for some fresh air. Little did he expect that he hadn’t walked far before overhearing such shocking news.
Nancy Phillips and Franklin Cody?!
It was simply terrifying.
"Enough," hindered by the aura of menace that enfolded Franklin Cody, Ella Pemberton waved her hand dismissively, "You can go now."
Having finally regained his composure, Rowdy Brightwill had no desire to stick around in a place where he felt like he was asking for trouble, so he took his leave and turned to walk back towards the sickroom.
Only after he entered the room did Franklin Cody’s steely gaze, which had been fixed in that direction, finally retract.
"He won’t blab."
Ella Pemberton spoke, both to soothe Franklin Cody and out of trust in Rowdy Brightwill.
Rowdy Brightwill was not a talkative person, and he knew the severity of the situation; he was not the kind to gossip, so he would certainly not leak anything about this matter.
"I know," Franklin Cody said somberly.
Even though he was aware of Rowdy Brightwill’s character, the thought of him eavesdropping still made him want to throttle the kid.

"Hmm," Ella Pemberton nodded, not dwelling on it and guiding the conversation back to the main issue, "Regarding the instructor position, I asked you out of necessity at the time, and whether you continue in the role, I will respect your wishes. However, I still have a few things to say."
Her tone paused slightly, Ella Pemberton’s expression softened as she continued, "You have done an excellent job as the instructor. I definitely couldn’t have brought them to the level they are now. So personally, I do hope you will stay. If you worry that you might be distracted and go easy on Nancy Phillips in training, I have a solution."
"Please speak."
Franklin Cody looked at her earnestly.
"Once Nancy Phillips recovers, I will return as the instructor but you can stay on as deputy instructor. I will supervise any training related to Nancy Phillips. For Jessie Grain and Flossie, you can train them as you see fit," Ella Pemberton smiled, then added, "Of course, if you really find it difficult to focus, you can tell me, and we can change plans accordingly. But I still hope you’ll give it a try."
Ella Pemberton spoke these words with extreme calmness, not a single fluctuation in her tone.
Compared to the ordeal Flossie Wright and the others would have to endure in the coming month, Ella Pemberton preferred to keep Franklin Cody on.
