The interaction was incredibly intimate.
Kirana Williams, who had never witnessed such behavior from her own son, nearly dropped her chopsticks in shock when she saw the scene unfold in front of her eyes.
After raising her son for over twenty years, he had never been so filial to even offer her a serving of food. Yet now...
Kirana felt a slight pang in her heart.
"Granny, eat."
After placing the cabbage into Kirana’s bowl, young Hutchinson comforted her with these words. He then neatly retracted his hand and continued with his meal.
Kirana’s face instantly brightened with joy.
Although raising a son may not have been without its disappointments, rearing a grandson certainly made up for it.
It was a worthwhile endeavor.
Meanwhile, Flossie Wright - always one to favor soft over hard - lowered her eyes to look at the extra helping of food in her bowl. Her brows crinkled slightly, but unlike Glenn Hutchinson, she didn’t act petulant. Instead of returning the food, she reluctantly placed the vegetables into her mouth.

Hmm, not bad...
The taste was normal.
Suddenly, Flossie seemed to realize something. She glanced at Glenn, and he, catching her gaze, returned it. There was a moment of tension as their eyes locked, but just as quickly, both of them shifted their attention away as if nothing had happened.
As if nothing had indeed happened.
And then, Kirana seemed to realize something, which couldn’t help but make her feel anxious.
Were these two at odds with each other?
Kirana, who had always been perceptive, could see that something was off between Flossie and Glenn. However, she was unable to probe further. Securing a woman’s presence in her son’s life had already been a difficult feat in itself. Moreover, since their relationship seems to be implicitly established, she did not want to risk causing any inconvenience that may jeopardize her son’s romantic relationship due to her indiscretion.
After peacefully finishing their meal, Flossie took a short rest before bidding farewell to Kirana and made plans to leave.
Despite Kirana’s gentle persuasion for her to stay, and finding them ineffective, she decided against forcing her. However, when she noticed that Glenn had not reacted to Flossie’s departure, her sense of urgency rose. Kirana attempted to subtly signal Glenn with her eyes, but Glenn, who normally picks up on these cues quickly, seemed oblivious to her signalling. He didn’t even respond, let alone act upon her cues.
"Let Glenn see you home."
As a last resort, Kirana had to verbally remind him. Since she was already spelling it out, she made no attempts to conceal her request and directly beckoned Glenn to stop loitering and ensure Flossie’s safe return home.
Flossie, who was observing from the sidelines, was somewhat irked. If anything, Kirana had been unjustly blaming Glenn. He was only accommodating Flossie’s wishes.
Without directly refusing, Glenn nonchalantly nodded before getting up--he did not spare Flossie a glance and walked towards the entrance.
Touching her nose lightly, Flossie shrugged and promptly followed his steps.
However, witnessing both of their indifferent reactions, Kirana grew anxious or more accurately confused. Weren’t they getting along just fine? They had been doting on each other at the dinner table enough to give anyone cavities from the sweetness, but suddenly, they were giving each other the cold shoulder.
She really couldn’t understand the young generation.
Unlike the warm indoors, the outdoors welcomed them with gusts of cold wind that blew away body heat in an instant, leaving a chilling sensation behind.
"Come here."
Picking up a scarf before stepping out of the door, Glenn stopped Flossie, who was closely following him, right as they stepped out.
