"What, you want to leave already?"
Gavin also curved a dangerous smile. He walked step by step towards Daisy Deacon, stopping only when he was right in front of her.
"Could you actually provide refuge for me?" Daisy said slowly, looking a bit unconcerned.
"As long as you can harden your heart and are willing to go against Silvery." Gavin looked at her coldly, his gaze becoming more scrutinizing.
"You’re joking," Daisy’s smile deepened at the corners of her lips, with a hint of coldness in her slow tone, "Silvery and I have no real ties."
"Helping you take revenge on Andrew, isn’t that a connection?" Gavin asked coldly.
"Ha," Daisy scoffed, "For such a smart person like you, haven’t you realized, this was his plot to swallow the slaughter deal?"
"Maybe," Gavin’s tone paused slightly, his gaze growing increasingly inscrutable, a trace of icy smile in his eyes, "Just an act."
"Do you think," Daisy raised her hand, pushing back the strands of hair falling in front of her, then smilingly looked at him, "the likes of us would willingly give up all our glory?"
"You and I are not the same kind of person."
Gavin’s gaze grew colder, but the smile at the corner of his mouth deepened.
He didn’t know Daisy all that well.
However, no matter how little he knew her, he was aware that the ties between slaughter and DARK weren’t shallow. They even worked together against Bailey Maynard. For someone as petty and calculative as Gavin, unless Daisy personally killed Silvery, he would never believe that Daisy was genuinely loyal.
The reason why he kept Daisy around was simply because of Daisy’s considerable personal abilities. By "keeping" her, he could also observe whether Daisy truly intended to pledge allegiance.
But up until now, he hadn’t recognized any of the so-called sincerity from Daisy.
Until she earned his full trust, Daisy was destined to stay here, or perhaps, die here.
"Right," Daisy nodded, seemingly in agreement, "I’m different from you, I don’t like being under someone else’s roof."
"Ha, you, who have pledged allegiance to Bailey Maynard, seem unqualified to say such a thing." Gavin smirked sarcastically.
Daisy chuckled softly, dismissing his words.
"Send her back."
Narrowing his sinister eyes, Gavin barked the order, and two men stepped out from behind him.
One on the left and one on the right, they came to Daisy’s side, every move and glance clearly expressing an air of "compulsion."
Even if Daisy didn’t want to go back, she had to.
Otherwise—
The consequences, they all knew well.
With a knife hidden in his smile, Gavin’s expression remained unchanged.
A slight raise of her brow, Daisy turned, walking ahead of the two men.
The two burly men, hands resting on the guns at their waists, remained completely vigilant towards Daisy.
They were all Gavin’s subordinates, members of Bailey Maynard’s group, who had previously dealt with the slaughter, and naturally knew how deceitful and shameless slaughter’s members were. In front of the leader of slaughter, it was impossible for them to relax even a bit.
It’s fair to say they had suffered many times under slaughter, and now, even just Daisy alone heightened their tension and alertness due to past experiences—they didn’t want to repeat the same mistakes.
