His actions were deft and fluid, sweeping through the process of cleaning and bandaging in a choreography of swift motions. It was so efficient that you could barely keep up just by watching. In no time, Flossie Wright’s hand had been thoroughly bandaged up. Despite the prickly sting of her wound, the layers of bandage on the back of her hand reminded her that something had indeed happened.
Flossie’s previously furrowed brow gradually relaxed. She moved her hand slightly and nodded at Glenn Hutchinson, "Thanks."
Her gaze finally left her wounded hand. Glenn spared her a glance before his cell phone, which he had hung up not too long ago, started ringing again. He casually glanced at it and, after some hesitation, picked it up.
However, just as he answered it, he heard an authoritative voice boom out, "What was that noise just now, why is there a woman in your unit?!"
Hearing that clearly, Flossie blinked her eyes, awkwardly touching her nose.
However, at a time like this, all she could do was to pretend she didn’t know anything.
Glenn Hutchinson’s eyebrow twitched slightly, but before he could respond, the authoritative voice softened, "You...don’t tell me you found a girlfriend in the forces?"
Absorbed in her thoughts, Flossie, who hadn’t given the question much consideration, was about to stand up, but paused when she heard the surprisingly direct response.
A single word, but it affirmed the speculation.
He was admitting it.
This caught Flossie off guard, her body stiffening immediately. Her eyes swept towards Glenn like a sharp blade, her fingers tensing and crackling, emanating a palpable threat.
However, as Glenn looked at her, he seemed to be holding back a smirk, his gaze teasing and provocative.
Indeed, even if he had blatantly admitted that it was Flossie, there wasn’t anything she could do, just like if someone were trying to tarnish her image, all she could do was fight back or intimidate them. There was no other way.
Could she possibly sew up his mouth?
Moreover, he didn’t address her by name or surname, he merely went along with the insinuation.
"Haha...you little fellow, hiding it from me. Whose daughter is she?" Glenn’s grandfather burst into a hearty laughter. However, halfway through, his tone shifted, becoming more serious, "You aren’t lying to your old man, are you?"
"I wouldn’t dare," Glenn responded very earnestly.
Once he said something, it usually ended up being quite persuasive.
At his words, the old man’s face broke into a cheerful grin, like a child. He persistently requested to speak with his "grandson’s girlfriend", only to be dismissed by Glenn with a few words.
Even when their call ended, it was clear they both understood each other’s motives. Glenn’s grandfather may have sounded enthusiastic, but he likely doubted that Glenn had a "girlfriend". And while Glenn put on an act, he knew very well that his grandfather was not easily fooled.
Still, given the opportunity to speak obediently to an elderly family member, who he rarely saw since he lived far away, was appreciated.
"I’m leaving," Flossie called out.
Dusting off her sleeves and watching Glenn hang up the phone, Flossie didn’t linger. She prepared herself for the task of finding the vanguard who had already found their hiding places.
However, as she stood up and took a few steps away, her footsteps suddenly hesitated.
Turning to glance at Glenn Hutchinson, who was shrouded in darkness, she was full of curiosity as she queried,
"Hey, why did you join the army?"
