Suddenly changing the subject, Flossie Wright raised her eyebrows and subconsciously looked for his phone.
"It’s on the desk."
The elder Mr. Wright added coldly.
Glancing over, she indeed saw the phone on the desk.
𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
An old-fashioned phone, not a smartphone, not even a flip phone, black-bodied, palm-sized.
Flossie went over to pick it up and then handed it to the elder Mr. Wright.
Releasing his irritation on trivial matters, the elder Mr. Wright snatched the phone and then shot Flossie a sharp look.
Flossie touched her nose and didn’t take his annoyance seriously.
Having the upper hand in her arguments, Mr. Wright had no ground for rebuttal and was naturally filled with pent-up anger, which he could only vent at her.
However, he was not as stubborn as she had imagined and was easier to deal with than Regan Wright.
The elder Mr. Wright fiddled with the phone and then directly dialed the Brigadier.
After asking a few questions, all related to Flossie, the unadulterated praise and commendation, and even the tactful compliments that Flossie was a promising sniper seedling, came through.
Thus, after the call, the elder Mr. Wright grew even more displeased; hanging up, his face turned a few shades darker.
Narrowing her eyes, Flossie smiled at him.
Scowling at her, the elder Mr. Wright was very reluctant as he dialed another call to Captain Peng.
What he received, of course, was another round of praise.
A promising talent!
An absolute sniper!
Already being trained as a sniper!
Gets along well with teammates...
Overall, in an effort to keep Flossie, Captain Peng went all in, sacrificing his thirty years of dignity, excessively praising her against his better judgment, stopping just shy of glorifying her to the heavens.
Listening on the side, Flossie felt somewhat embarrassed.
She got along well with the new recruits, but she still remembered that, on the day before she left, she had managed to offend almost all the veteran soldiers.
It was astounding how Captain Peng could utter such words.
In less than three minutes, the elder Mr. Wright hung up the phone, furious.
"You all conspired together, didn’t you?!"
He heavily placed the phone to the side and glared at Flossie with his eyes sweeping over her.
Flossie appeared quite innocent.
"No?!" The elder Mr. Wright’s complexion changed slightly, "With that annoying disposition of yours that makes people want to punch you hard, how could you receive such overwhelmingly high praise?! Even being praised for having a good character and temper, blending in on all sides—why didn’t she say you’re loved by everyone?!"
Flossie was taken aback.
It was lucky that Captain Peng had not interacted with her much, allowing him to heap such praise; if it were Belinda Nichols, Becca Reyes... or even Rowdy Brightwill, it probably would be hard to compliment her to that extent.
With that thought, Flossie looked up and said honestly, "She’s eager for talented people."
The elder Mr. Wright was almost infuriated to death by her.
Where on earth had she learned this shamelessness?!
It was one thing for others to say Captain Peng was eager for talented people, but for Flossie, the person in question, to say it outright was unbelievable?!
"Enough, enough, get out!"
Waving his hand in agitation, the elder Mr. Wright didn’t want to see her anymore.
Despite being so detested, Flossie remained calm, inquiring without a change in expression, "So, I can stay with Eddy Codalt?"
"What, you don’t want to stay now?!"
The elder Mr. Wright’s eyes suddenly narrowed.
A smile flickered in her eyes, and Flossie was satisfied. Before leaving, she even reminded him, "Eat the porridge while it’s hot."
