Even those with the mildest temperaments would be annoyed by such words. Without a doubt, Calvin Ramos looked a bit stiff, but it was just a tad awkward; it was not enough to make him angry.
After spending so much time with Flossie Wright, he had grown accustomed to her cold personality. All the time, she rarely showed anyone a pleasant face.
Furthermore, although Calvin Ramos only had limited contact with Flossie, he was clearly aware that Flossie treated him as if he was practically non-existent. Even Stuart Weston got more attention from her.
"Examine if I am a burden to you first," he said.
After a pause, Calvin Ramos’s expression quickly calmed, his words devoid of any negative emotions.
Out of Flossie’s sight, Calvin Ramos expression wasn’t as peaceful as he tried to portray, even displaying some strangeness, a hint of sinister mischief.
After determining that Calvin Ramos wouldn’t leave, and under these conditions, he had no way to leave, Flossie didn’t bother to pay him any more attention. She flexed her wrist, then slung the leftover sniper rifle over her shoulder. The next moment, without any warning, she leaped into the water below, twenty meters deep.
The wide river, with its raging waves, swept Flossie away as soon as she hit the water. In an instant, there was only a figure frantically bobbing in the distance.
Such a sudden move left Calvin Ramos with no time to react, no time for hesitation. He immediately followed Flossie’s actions, plunging into the water with textbook precision before allowing the tumultuous river currents to carry him downstream.
In a swift current, you definitely can’t fight against it. All one can do is to let the current carry you downstream. As for the possibility of being hit by rocks in the river...
Everything depends on luck and skill.
At the top of the cliff.
When the firefight ceased and it was confirmed that Flossie Wright and Calvin Ramos had safely reached the bottom of the cliff, Becca Reyes and Stuart Weston withdrew at the fastest speed. The soldiers suppressed by their firepower finally had a chance to breathe.
However, in this brief time, they lost their advantage and could only watch helplessly as their four targets disappeared before them.
Meanwhile, Austin Shepherd, who was still at the Red Army camp documenting data, saw the scattering red dots on his laptop screen within minutes. His actions paused subconsciously as he watched the red dots move in different directions with a perplexed expression.
And their moving speed...
Austin Shepherd called up the 3D map of the immediate area and clearly saw the cliff and river there. After pondering for a moment, he didn’t hesitate and quickly connected with Nathan Foster.
"Still on the move, what’s up?"
As soon as Nathan Foster received Austin Shepherd’s call, he replied. However, his tone was filled with puzzlement.
"They’ve divided into two groups, probably fleeing," Austin Shepherd said thoughtfully as he navigated his laptop, "Don’t head there, they’re probably near the sea. I’ll send you the new coordinates."
After communicating with Nathan Foster, Austin Shepherd began to pull up the end coordinates of the river and quickly sent them to Nathan Foster.
Then, he began to monitor the drifting red dots. As time ticked away, he watched with growing apprehension.
The current temperature wasn’t high, and they were moving so swiftly. The speed of the river flow certainly wasn’t slow. A wrong move could lead to a life-threatening situation. He naturally didn’t want any accidents to happen to his soldiers in this exercise.
Perhaps half an hour later, the two red dots finally stopped moving.
At last, Austin Shepherd let out a long sigh of relief. However, when he came to his senses, he realized his back was drenched in cold sweat.
After staying in the cold river water for half an hour and becoming as cold as ice, Flossie wisely chose to climb ashore just as the river started to become more violent.
Almost the moment she reached the shore, Flossie collapsed on the ground to rest without even putting down her backpack.
The temperature beneath the cliff was already cold, and the river water took away most of their body heat, rendering their hands and feet almost numb when they emerged.
However, traveling through water saved a considerable amount of time for them. Although there were potential dangers, for them, it couldn’t have been a better choice.
"Go, start a fire."
Lying on a smooth rock, Flossie gestured with an eye. Seeing Calvin Ramos climb out of the river, she immediately delivered her brusque command.
Relatively speaking, Calvin Ramos had much better physical endurance than her. After going through the same experience, he was not as exhausted as she was. Hence, the task of starting a fire, was naturally assigned to him.
"Start a fire?" Calvin Ramos was taken aback by Flossie’s command as he arrived on the riverbank. He furrowed his eyebrows subconsciously, "We have to avoid infrared detection all the way."
"I know." Flossie sat up, her wet clothing stuck to her body. She squinted slightly and casually snapped off a tree branch in her hand, "Just afraid no one will come."
