"After this peacekeeping mission ends, I will apply to transfer out of the Military District hospital. Although I don’t really like you, I still wish you well."
After speaking, Ann Cavanaugh looked at Flossie Wright earnestly, her expression not lacking a bit of sincerity.
She wouldn’t lie; when she said she wished them well, she truly meant it.
Even though she did feel somewhat reluctant.
Even though she wasn’t all that sure that Flossie Wright and Glenn Hutchinson were truly a perfect match.
However, since it was Glenn Hutchinson’s choice, and such a firm choice at that, for the sake of blessing Glenn Hutchinson, she also needed to include Flossie Wright in those blessings.
Little did she know—
In the face of her hostility and blessings, Flossie Wright just found it all a bit baffling.
"Though I don’t need it, and I don’t like you either, but," at this point, Flossie Wright deliberately paused, then with a shift in tone, mimicked Ann Cavanaugh’s serious tone, speaking word by word, "thank you for your blessings."
Ann Cavanaugh felt a bit awkward.
After a brief pause, Flossie Wright casually shrugged, "Goodbye."
After saying that, Flossie Wright bypassed her, heading straight to Belinda Nichols’s hospital room.
Ann Cavanaugh stood there for a moment, then turned her head, only seeing a glimpse of Flossie Wright’s profile, disappearing at the doorway in an instant.
Ann Cavanaugh then slightly lowered her eyes, her lips curling into a self-deprecating smile.
Flossie Wright had barely entered the hospital room when Iris Dukes and Rowdy Brightwill were chased out by a nurse.
It was said that the two of them were arguing back and forth, disturbing the other patients who were resting.
Initially, when Flossie Wright entered, that nurse also wanted to lose her temper, but upon seeing the epaulets on Flossie Wright’s shoulder and sensing her presence, the words stuck in her throat. After thinking for a while, she could only instruct Flossie Wright to keep it down.
Flossie Wright responded dismissively.
The nurse retreated on her own.
Belinda Nichols’s bed was located on the right, against the wall, with a total of five beds in the row. The other four beds were occupied by severely injured soldiers in recovery, and Belinda Nichols seemed to have been forcibly awakened by Iris Dukes and Rowdy Brightwill. She was now awake but feeling drowsy, yet upon seeing Flossie Wright, she mustered some spirit.
Flossie Wright walked past the other beds, heading directly to her side.
She glanced down at her, catching sight of the pale face, Flossie Wright spoke in a cool tone, "Sleep?"
"Wait a moment."
Belinda Nichols opened her mouth, her voice somewhat hoarse.
She had been given some anesthesia, as several stone fragments needed to be removed from her body. Without any anesthesia, no matter how high her tolerance for pain was, it would have been hard to endure. But due to a shortage, she wasn’t given much, and she was already awake shortly after the operation.
Squinting a bit, Flossie Wright asked in a low voice, "Something up?"
Enduring the pain, Belinda Nichols’s face was as white as a sheet, and cold sweat trickled from her forehead, yet she didn’t utter a single word of complaint.
Flossie Wright observed her expression closely but ultimately, said nothing.
She waited for Belinda Nichols to finish speaking.
"Go ahead," Flossie Wright said in a calm voice.
"That Boss of Anonymous, Ice," Belinda Nichols said softly, pausing slightly before meeting Flossie Wright’s gaze calmly, her voice steady despite the flutter of her eyelashes, "is my brother, my real brother."
Her voice wasn’t loud, even somewhat weak, but enough for Flossie Wright to hear clearly.
