The urgent sound of the bugle was so vivid, it stirred everyone’s nerves.
During exercises, they had gone through countless repetitions — getting up, dressing, grabbing equipment, assembling. The routine was unchanged, almost to the letter. However, this time, the bugle sound ignited an unprecedented tense atmosphere within the campsite.
They received news that two groups were heading their way.
One was a mercenary team led by Bailey Maynard, the other was a group composed of several revolutionary factions.
Tanks, armored vehicles, howitzers, missiles...
Flossie Wright stood among the troops, listening as Glenn Hutchinson named one heavy weapon after another. Her previously indifferent and calm demeanor had unknowingly grown much more serious.
With Bailey’s addition, their weaponry was significantly enhanced, and the assault on them came at a great cost.
In the end, Glenn Hutchinson sent two teams to confront them. They were army forces, but if even they couldn’t handle it, there would be air force support later on.
They must not be allowed to approach the campsite!
One team was led by Jude Marsh, including newcomers such as Belinda Nichols, Qiao Jing, Jessie Grain, and Rowdy Brightwill, along with elite members from other forces and several armed police. The other team was led by Dallion Collins, with members including Flossie Wright, Sandy Cruz, and Iris Dukes. The remaining individuals were under Glenn Hutchinson’s command.
Glenn Hutchinson needed to stay here and hold the line.
"Stay safe."
Among the bustling noise, Flossie only heard these few words from him.
Following the team, Flossie responded calmly, unsure if Glenn Hutchinson could hear her clearly.
The enemy was detected by air surveillance equipment, and they were still a long distance from the campsite. However, they had missiles, so they must be kept at least five kilometers away to ensure the safety of the campsite.
Fortunately, they also had ground missile systems, so if worse came to worst, they only needed to hold off for a while.
Before reaching their destination, Dallion, who had been leading the way, suddenly stopped and waited for the others to catch up, eventually moving forward side by side with Flossie.
"Captain said Gavin might be coming for you," Dallion warned her with a concerned look, "You should stay in the rear, whatever you do, don’t rush out."
"Understood."
Flossie touched her earpiece and nodded directly.
As a sniper, she was expected to operate from a hidden position. Dallion reminded her specifically, likely fearing her independent actions might cause trouble.
However, in normal training and exercises, Flossie might have done just that. But in such a real war, Flossie truly lacked the courage to thoughtlessly risk her life.
Having received Flossie’s nod of agreement, Dallion trusted her character and felt reassured.
A journey of nearly six kilometers, traversing mountain roads with heavy gear, some weighing more than twenty kilograms, yet this group moved faster than they would under a five-kilometer load-bearing run.
Flossie quickly found a place to hide, taking out her sniper rifle that was maintained to optimal condition, she took aim at the approaching convoy.
A few armored vehicles, two tanks, howitzers, and missiles were excluded, but the lineup was still impressive.
On their side, a fifteen-member team was dispatched.
Almost as soon as Flossie aimed, she heard the gunfire of the two engaged groups, submachine guns and assault rifles firing instantly. At this moment, rifles had become redundant, the explosive flare and movement forming a breathtaking symphony, resonating through their hearts as strings, the soaring flames in the distance showcasing grandeur and motion.
