Throwing a hand grenade requires a certain amount of wrist strength and a good deal of technique, or else, no matter how strong one is, the grenade would merely be slammed to the ground without being thrown far. Fortunately, although their wrist strength was not strong, both of them had mastered the technique pretty well. Achieving a passable distance of around thirty meters was no issue and they could even push it to thirty-five meters on a good throw.
However, for Glenn Hutchinson...
He hadn’t undergone such mundane basic training in a long time.
Although he had arranged many of these practices, mainly to cultivate the basic skills of new recruits, the key point was that these were meant for others to execute. He didn’t need to participate, so no matter how boring, it had nothing to do with him.
But now, here he was, standing early in the morning post, overseeing these two female soldiers undergoing such basic training.
When they finally finished throwing two boxes of grenades, Glenn Hutchinson pointed in the direction of the parallel bars and told them to practice on their own. He then took a stroll and brought back some useful equipment.
Just as Flossie Wright and Becca Reyes finally finished their practice on the parallel bars and were about to take a rest, two backpacks fell from the sky. They landed straight on their faces, blocking their vision.
"Both of you have poor physical endurance," Glenn Hutchinson approached casually, his expression nonchalant. "Fill your backpacks with rocks. Twenty kilometers."
"We have to run again?!"
Becca Reyes sat up from the ground, staring incredulously at Glenn Hutchinson.
After enduring physical torment, they were physically exhausted. They were relieved, thinking they were done, but now Glenn Hutchinson was mandating a twenty-kilometer run with heavy loads. It was as if he was set to ruin their lives.
"Don’t want to run?" Glenn Hutchinson’s eyebrows twitched, generating an air of authority out of nowhere.
Unable to suppress a gulp, Becca Reyes looked up at this handsome man. She sighed in her heart but spoke resolutely, "We’ll run!"
It was fine if they couldn’t endure, but being trained by Glenn Hutchinson would be like receiving a pie from heaven. If they let this opportunity slip by because of such trifling matters, she would consider herself brainless.
Becca Reyes picked herself up from the ground and reached out a hand to help Flossie Wright up.
A pile of rocks was nearby, haphazardly stacked together. Becca Reyes had questioned the purpose of these rocks on her previous walks by, but it wasn’t until Glenn Hutchinson instructed them to collect rocks that she realized, these were meant for training.
"They really are prepared. Even the rocks found in the hills are well-arranged," Becca Reyes grumbled while adding rocks one by one to their backpacks. Even the sight of the rocks made her shudder, let alone thinking about the weight to be borne by them later.
Flossie Wright glanced at her but didn’t respond.
She was unusually exhausted.
Her arms and legs felt as though they were filled with lead, making even the smallest movement difficult. As for her, she barely made it through the previous drill, and she would have to rely on sheer willpower for what was to come.
Yet, strangely enough, she had no desire to slack off.
She had always resisted standardized training, so she would occasionally think about just doing the bare minimum and being done with it.
