But the appeal of Glenn Hutchinson, who was so outstanding, was too strong for her to just casually give up...
"So you’re standing here because...?"
Flossie Wright’s words failed her halfway through, laced with a hint of confusion. However, the implication was clear.
It was clear. She was hinting to Mia Lawson that if she knew what was good for her, she should leave quickly instead of standing around cluelessly - and getting in her way.
Straightforward as the words were, they infuriated Mia to no end. Her insides were churning, and she wished she could slap Flossie’s face.
Mia stomped her foot on the ground, glared angrily at Flossie a few more times before storming off infuriated.
But her delay meant that everyone else in line had gotten their medicines, leaving only Flossie Wright and Glenn Hutchinson.
He still held onto Flossie as they went to get their medicine. Their intimate posture elicited sighs from the female pharmacy worker. This pair was showing off their relationship bright and early in the morning, blinding her with their allure. A handsome man and a beautiful woman paired up were a sight to behold. How were they, the singles, supposed to live on after this?!
It’s not like everyone at the hospital knew Glenn and Flossie. The girl who worked in the pharmacy was a typical example. So, in an attempt to get rid of the "lovey-dovey couple" in front of her, she quickly gathered all their medicines and got them on their way.
On the other hand, as soon as Flossie left the counter, she pushed Glenn’s hand away, marching towards the hospital entrance.
Flossie was a person who held grudges. When someone did her a favor, she would return it, and when someone offended her, she was quick to get even. Glenn had helped her quite often, so she didn’t mind helping him fend off some of his pursuers, especially Mia, who had caused her trouble.
But as much as she was willing to help, she never thought about interacting with Glenn more than necessary.
Being with Glenn was suffocating, as he seemed to pull her into his pace unintentionally. Flossie found this hard to accept. They were like two same-pole magnets, repelling each other – there was no possibility for them to get close.
But Glenn, on the other hand, was strolling leisurely behind her.
"Are you free?"
Recognizing the person behind her, she can’t help but frown, and Flossie pauses a little.
She had never noticed him being so nosy before.
Glenn casually strode behind Flossie with his hands in his pockets. He only stopped when she did.
He agreed with Flossie’s question and nodded.
Yet everyone knew his schedule was packed with things to do.
"Come." Frowning at the hint of annoyance, as if coming up with an idea, Flossie beckoned Glenn over.
After giving her a good look, knowing well that she had a scheme up her sleeve, Glenn still complied and stepped up.
Raising her hand, she casually draped it around Glenn Hutchinson’s shoulders. The gesture wasn’t as intimate as Glenn’s earlier show of affection; rather, it was a casual move like that between siblings. It was not suggestive in any way.
Flossie leaned towards his ear, her voice turned a more teasing, "Captain, you... you’re not falling for me for real, are you?"
She paused before her question to emphasis on Glenn’s title, indicating the main subject of the sentence was Glenn’s issue.
Facing her outspoken provocation, Glenn concealed his surprise, his eyes hinted with a playful smile. He reached out to brush a loose strand of Flossie’s hair away from her face, bringing an unintended ambiguous vibe.
