After a while, she realized that they were surviving in the wilderness...
It was boring.
Really boring.
Mariana Buck frowned.
Yet, after glancing at the fire inside the cave, she still walked over and moved a stack of "pyramids" inside in several trips.
Flossie Wright was lucky.
She caught a rabbit alive and killed two snakes with her Dagger.
Carrying her trophies, Flossie went to the riverbank, ready to process them.
Sandy Cruz looked around and finally found her by the river.
"Had a fight?"
After glancing at him, Flossie guessed with a raised eyebrow.
Sandy responded vaguely.
In fact, he couldn’t be sure whether they had actually fought or not.
He then sat down next to her and took a snake to work on.
Its head had been chopped off.
What he had to do was skin it and remove the innards.
As she processed a snake, Flossie suddenly turned her head and asked, "How are her cooking skills?"
"Compared to you."
After thinking for a while, Sandy said, "Better than mine."
Immediately, Flossie narrowed her eyes meaningfully and said, "She’s just freeloading..."
"I told her to do it," Sandy said with a serious face, cutting her off.
Who couldn’t see through that little scheme?
Flossie nodded satisfactorily and then placed the processed snake on a rock by the shore. She quickly stood up.
Sandy looked up.
"I’m going to get some wood," Flossie explained.
Then, Flossie left again.
Surrendering to the task at hand, Sandy continued to work on the snake.
With the wind howling this late at night and the vivid patterns on the snake in his hands looking rather spooky, Sandy skinned it, frowning and wondering just how brave Flossie really was.
His movements were fairly quick.
By the time he finished with the snake, it was already past seven o’clock.
The sky had also turned completely dark.
Fortunately, adapted to the darkness and following the same path back, returning wasn’t a problem.
When he carried the items back, Flossie was still nowhere to be seen.
Mariana Buck had already started roasting the three fish.
Surprised to see him with something new, she didn’t ask anything further.
Sandy didn’t explain either.
Only when the three fish were almost cooked did they hear a faint noise outside.
But, nobody came in for a long time.
Mariana and Sandy went out to check.
They were shocked when they saw what was there.
In the night, Flossie’s figure wasn’t clear, but they could vaguely make out a shadow.
She was moving slowly forward.
Behind her were three piles of wood, each with about five sticks.
All were tied with parachute cords, and the ends of the three cords were tied to a small stick, which Flossie held in her hand, dragging the three piles of wood towards them.
Sandy was the first to walk over.
Quickly, Mariana followed.
The drizzle outside had stopped without them noticing.
"Give it to me."
Sandy reached out his hand to her. Even though his speech seemed to be asking for permission, his actions were direct as he took the small stick from her hand.
Flossie frowned.
The stick suddenly slipped from her grasp, and she couldn’t apply force anymore. A sharp pain spread from between her fingers.
It really hurt.
"Go inside," Sandy ordered, looking at her with sternness in his voice.
Flossie didn’t rush, swaying her hand and slowly following beside him.
