Mariana shook her head, not intending to persuade further.
"By the way, Sandy and I are calling off the engagement," Mariana took off her hat, playing with it in her hands while seriously looking at Flossie Wright, "You and Captain Hutchinson aren’t going to work out, but being with him isn’t bad either. You two seem quite in sync."
Flossie looked up, quite taken aback.
With Sandy...?
The image of Sandy flashed in her mind, but in less than two seconds, it vanished completely, replaced by Glenn Hutchinson’s annoyingly cold face.
"Do we match?"
With one hand resting on her chin, Flossie looked back at Mariana and asked thoughtfully.
After thinking it over, Mariana nodded slightly, "Not bad."
Flossie’s face darkened slightly.
If Sandy heard this, she would probably cut ties with her by tomorrow.
"When are you leaving?"
Changing the subject, Flossie asked.
"Tomorrow morning."
"Did you get your luggage?" Flossie continued to ask.
"They’ll send it back to me." Frowning, Mariana answered honestly but felt a foreboding sense.
Every time Flossie set her sights on her, she had this subconscious feeling.
"What about money?" Flossie asked bluntly.
"I’ve got a little left." Mariana answered defensively, suddenly realizing something.
"You haven’t paid the printing fee."
Flossie said directly and bluntly.
Finally, after circling around for a while, she got to the point.
Expression stiffening slightly, Mariana paused in holding her hat, then stood up from the steps, deliberately making an excuse as she walked away, "I’ll go pack my things."
Glancing at her figure walking into the dormitory building, Flossie raised a hand to touch her nose.
When it comes to money, no friendship counts for anything.
Shrugging, Flossie didn’t linger and got up to leave.
Although during their conversation in the evening, Mariana deliberately avoided the topic of money.
However, when the trainees went to class in the morning, Mariana still left some money on Flossie’s desk.
Piecemeal, adding up to nearly two hundred.
That was all the money she had left on her.
The fare for leaving was covered by the forces, so she didn’t need to worry.
Later, Flossie handed all the money over to Sandy.
Someone else could cover the printing costs, and Flossie didn’t really need the money, so she might as well give it to Sandy to save trouble.
Mariana left quietly, without causing any ripples among this batch of trainees.
Apart from the discussions a few days prior, once they couldn’t find out the result, they focused on training and no longer mentioned her name.
After all, the training volume was too large, they needed all sorts of skills, forced to cram endless information every day, no explosive topic had any significance among them, the only thing they genuinely cared about was their daily decreasing points.
Mariana’s departure had no impact on them.
For Flossie Wright, however, it disrupted her peace for days.
For several consecutive days, she barely completed her training, several times finishing tasks right on time, even Joshua Bailey was troubled over whether to deduct her points.
And, this obvious abnormality wasn’t just noticed by those close to her like Belinda Nichols and others, even Glenn Hutchinson, who only occasionally showed up, saw it firsthand.
Eventually, Joshua Bailey couldn’t take it anymore!
After one training session, Joshua Bailey barged directly into Glenn Hutchinson’s office.
Upon entering, he stared gloomily as if ready to eat someone, glaring at Glenn Hutchinson.
Glenn Hutchinson raised an eyebrow and glanced at him.
"Captain, you have no idea how unstable Flossie Wright has been lately, she can even zone out during parachuting, damn it, if she were a bit slower by ten seconds, she might actually fall to her death, it’s nerve-wracking every day, are you going to do something about it..."
The instantly changing-faced Joshua Bailey almost hugged Glenn Hutchinson’s leg to complain.
"Get her over here."
Putting the materials in his hand down on the table, Glenn Hutchinson coldly interrupted Joshua Bailey.
Almost failed a parachute jump?!
This was the first time he’d heard of it!
