Gracia Hutchinson wiped her mouth casually and took another bite of her pancake, shaking her head slightly with a contemplative expression.
Glenn Hutchinson glanced at her sideways, too lazy to respond.
By the time they entered the hotel room, Flynn Reid had already fallen asleep on the sofa, and Flossie Wright was sitting next to him, listlessly flipping through a storybook, waiting for them to return with palpable boredom.
"Hello, sister-in-law."
Having finished her pancake on the way, Gracia Hutchinson now stood before Flossie Wright, appearing neat and refreshed.
The room was brightly lit, with Flossie Wright elegantly yet lazily reclining on a single sofa, her legs crossed.
At the sound of her voice, Flossie didn’t even raise her eyelids, continuing to calmly turn the pages of her book and reading the final story.
"Sister-in-law."
Gracia Hutchinson suddenly leaned in close to Flossie Wright, her attractive eyes slightly curved, their gaze containing a hint of scrutiny.
"Stay back."
Without lifting her head, Flossie spoke in an aloof tone.
So, Gracia Hutchinson glanced at the book in her hands, noticed her own encroaching shadow, and tactfully shifted aside a little.
Flossie Wright was reading a book, Gracia Hutchinson was watching her.
Without uttering a word, Glenn Hutchinson picked up Flynn Reid and prepared to take him to the inner bedroom.
The air was still, as if unable to bear any noise, until Flossie Wright closed the book after finishing the last page, and then looked frowningly at the person standing beside her.
"What’s up?"
She asked indifferently, finally showing some intention to acknowledge Gracia Hutchinson.
"Nothing really."
Gracia Hutchinson suddenly stood erect, pulling back her scrutinizing gaze. A gentle smile emerged on her clean and fair face.
Flossie Wright was puzzled.
"Is the book good?"
Having sat down next to her, Gracia Hutchinson picked up the teapot and slowly poured a cup of tea.
"It’s okay."
Flossie Wright placed the book on the coffee table.
It was a hardcover book of fairy tales. The words "Grimm’s Fairy Tales" were neatly printed on the top of the cover. The sophisticated and elegant binding design contained no illustrations, just the austere simplicity of undecorated motif.
"Don’t you think it’s childish?" Gracia Hutchinson pushed the freshly poured tea towards Flossie Wright with an expression of playful interest.
"Childish."
Flossie Wright responded succinctly.
Indeed, for them, it was excessively childish.
But, after all, fairy tales weren’t written for them.
She might not like them, but the value and quality of a book didn’t need her to like it.
With a slight movement of her eyes, Gracia Hutchinson suddenly burst into laughter.
"I apologize for my presumptuous address," she stopped laughing, putting on a serious face. "My name is Gracia Hutchinson, I’m a forensic doctor."
With a puzzled frown, Flossie Wright paused for a moment before taking her hand in return, "Flossie Wright, a soldier."
An inscrutable attitude, an unexpected reaction.
Undeniably, Glenn Hutchinson’s sister was a lot more interesting than him.
The two didn’t talk for long.
It was nearing midnight and it was time for Flossie Wright and Glenn Hutchinson to leave.
Gracia Hutchinson stood at the door, waving at the two of them with a cheerful smile, and not until they had disappeared into the elevator did she step back into the room, in rather high spirits.
As they left the hotel, Glenn Hutchinson received a text message —
[ I like this sister-in-law of mine. Bro, keep going.]
It was signed Gracia Hutchinson.
After skimming the message, Glenn Hutchinson pocketed his phone again.
