Glenn Hutchinson coolly retorted.
Willie Ash shivered on the spot.
Emma, when will he ever stop cowering the moment he stands in front of the Captain?
If whistleblowing were to be considered for the evaluation, then Flossie Wright would be doomed.
Somehow, Flossie was either extremely well-liked or unbearably unpopular; those close to her were devoted to protecting her, while those who disliked her would slander her no end.
She could end up being smeared beyond recognition!
"Captain, if you’re not too busy..." While speaking, Joshua Bailey tugged on Willie Ash’s sleeve and then addressed Glenn Hutchinson, "we’ll be heading off first."
Standing still, Glenn Hutchinson watched the two leave with swift steps, without a change in his expression.
His eyes darkened slightly.
Joshua Bailey and Willie Ash walked away.
It wasn’t until they were out of Glenn Hutchinson’s sight that they looked at each other and let out a collective sigh of relief in unspoken agreement.
"Is the Captain really going to take this matter into account for the evaluation?"
Willie Ash, puzzled, furrowed his brows and turned to Joshua Bailey to ask.
As an Instructor, Joshua Bailey knew more about the student evaluations than he did.
"Of course," Joshua Bailey slung an arm around his shoulder and quirked an eyebrow, "otherwise, why do you think the Captain would intervene for Flossie Wright?"
"...I definitely might," Willie Ash scratched his head, "Flossie is really not a bad person, being reported doesn’t necessarily mean it’s her fault."
"A person can’t please everyone indeed," Joshua Bailey nodded slightly, then added, "But why did someone report her instead of someone else, specifically Flossie Wright?"
"Maybe she’s just unlucky."
Willie Ash struggled to justify Flossie’s situation.
"It’s all the same, there’s no such thing as bad luck," Joshua Bailey clapped his head slightly in a helpless gesture, continuing, "Even if it’s her bad luck, getting targeted by villains, that’s her personal problem. Because of her relationship with the Captain, it’s especially important that he doesn’t show bias; otherwise, it could lead to doubts about Flossie Wright’s capabilities."
He paused, noticing Willie Ash’s sour face, Joshua Bailey let out a slight smile and continued, "In other words, precisely because she is Flossie Wright, the Captain has to be fair, he can’t cut her any slack."
Since she was brought in directly by the Captain, she was already getting a lot of attention; if she didn’t have true abilities to gain others’ approval, it just wouldn’t make sense.
In front of so many people, the Captain definitely couldn’t show favoritism.
Otherwise, Flossie Wright’s presence would certainly be subject to wild speculation.
"It sounds pretty logical when you put it like that."
Having pondered, Willie Ash nodded in agreement.
It really spelled bad news for Flossie Wright.
When others made mistakes, if the Instructors wanted to, they could turn a blind eye, but once Flossie Wright slipped up, her mistake would need to be dealt with in an exaggerated fashion.
"I’ll let you in on a bit of inside information."
Arm still over his shoulder, Joshua Bailey gestured Willie Ash to come closer with a crook of his finger.
Willie Ash moved closer, intrigued.
Leaning in close to his ear, Joshua Bailey whispered, "The first round of evaluation consists of two parts. One is the outdoor survival you’re seeing right now; those who are eliminated here don’t stand much of a chance afterwards. But that’s not absolute. Next, there’s a written exam that pertains to everyone’s performance in the field. We’ll reselect candidates based on these results. Those who survive outdoors still could be eliminated."
