In the pitch-black room, it was so quiet that one could hear the sound of breathing.
Belinda Nichols quickly trussed up the female soldier under her control and dumped her next to a female soldier who, after being threatened by Flossie Wright, did not dare to move in the slightest.
The two of them stood in front of the soldiers.
A sense of unfounded oppression was palpable, to the point where the immobilized soldier began to breathe with extra caution.
"Where is the hostage?"
Belinda’s words were icy to the extreme, chilling to the bone.
"I don’t know."
The bound soldier’s voice was stiff as she glared unflinchingly at Belinda’s face, as if she wanted to engrave this hateful countenance in her memory.
They were all qualified amphibious scouts. They’d thought it would be a mere entertaining operation, but they hadn’t expected to be subdued by two female recruits as soon as they arrived, caught off guard by their instant, merciless attacks.
For the two hostages, it was as if they’d lost all dignity.
No matter how broadminded one was, it would be hard to coexist peacefully, let alone communicate, with these two "instigators of disaster" at this moment.
"You don’t know?"
The frosty face suddenly moved closer. The cold words, as if they were blocks of ice, smashed into her ears one by one.
Very painful.
So much so, it made one shudder.
The female soldier was startled and, after a bit of hustling, managed to calm herself down.
"I don’t know," she regained her composure, looking into Belinda’s eyes as she tried her best to steady her voice. "We were only tasked with obstructing you. Where the hostage is kept, only the hostage and your instructor know."
A wise man knows how to adapt to circumstances.
Provoking these two recruits would definitely be harmful to them.
As long as these two rookies didn’t exit the room, neither the sniper nor any other reinforcements would break down the door and forcibly enter. Thus, here, they could be threatened at will because no one would come to hinder these two rookies.
They locked eyes for three seconds.
Suddenly, Belinda stood straight and swung her gaze at Flossie Wright, coldly uttering two words, "Useless."
Flossie, who had observed everything, nodded.
She hadn’t expected to pry anything useful from the soldiers in the first place.
In this kind of operation, everybody had a specific task. It was impossible for everyone to know the whereabouts of the hostage, as that would be too risky.
Belinda frowned almost imperceptibly. She surveyed the female soldier and, after a moment of thought, struck her down with the edge of her hand, knocking her unconscious.
"Hey——"
The other female soldier, caught off guard by the scene, let out a cry without realizing it.
However, right after, four warning gazes fell upon her.
The light was too dim, and the two recruits were hidden in the darkness, their expressions and emotions inscrutable, unnerving her inexplicably.
Despite feeling exceedingly frustrated, she knew better than to speak up.
But, when she saw Flossie bending down to pick up a companion’s gun, she couldn’t help but raise her voice in warning, "You can’t shoot."
Picking up the gun, Flossie shot her a look, frowned.
She walked over.
The female soldier’s heart skipped a beat.
Along with the swift descending palm cutting through the air, the female soldier nervously began to speak. But all that was heard was a dull thud, and she fell heavily to the ground.
Flossie had no patience for blabbermouths. The soldier should have been more aware of the situation.
"Your plan."
Just as the soldier crashed to the floor, Belinda blocked Flossie’s path and stared at her earnestly.
Flossie was a bit taken aback.
She wasn’t in the habit of sharing her course of action with others.
