The villager swallowed nervously, casting a glance at her.
Afterward, he described the location to Flossie Wright in detail.
Flossie Wright couldn’t fully trust his words.
These people, though under brutal rule, were sensible. They knew that while those people oppressed and bullied them, they would still be the first to raise the gun to protect them when outsiders invaded.
Compared to outsiders flattening the entire village, they would rather endure the oppression and bullying.
Therefore, Flossie Wright couldn’t fully trust him.
She even had to keep a close watch on him to prevent him from going out to report.
Flossie Wright had to extract some information from him.
Walking openly in the village to gather information was impossible; getting discovered was secondary—primarily, it would be a suicidal act.
Eavesdropping and investigation were too risky and time-consuming, so they were also inappropriate.
Extracting words from those revolutionaries’ mouths was also a possibility, but those desperados’ words were even less credible than those of these villagers.
So, she could only pry out information from the villager, judge the truth from his micro-expressions, choose the useful information, and then go check the place out.
"Where are their newcomers now?"
Flossie Wright threw out a second question.
"W-What newcomers..." the villager stammered in reply.
"My target is the newcomers," Flossie Wright narrowed her eyes slightly, the military knife twirling dazzlingly in her hand, a hint of bloodthirsty malice surfacing in her eyes. She said, word by word, "It won’t affect your interests. You may choose not to believe, but... my means might be somewhat cruel."
The words had hardly fallen.
With a flip of her palm and a slight exertion of fingers, the military knife immediately flew from her palm, with a "thud," and fiercely stabbed into the door beside her.
There, the bedroom door was half-open, the girl holding the gun had just raised her hands when she suddenly froze.
The sudden military knife flew past her ear and as it stabbed into the doorframe, a chilling sensation instantly spread through her limbs. That unimaginable fear enveloped her whole body in an instant; she no longer had the strength to move.
Fear made her widen her eyes in a daze, and the next moment, the gun in her hand dropped to the floor with a "bang."
Flossie Wright’s brow twitched slightly.
"Don’t hurt her!"
The villager shouted, bending down, grabbing a hoe, and lunging straight at Flossie Wright!
Flossie Wright furrowed her brows in annoyance, her palm sliding across her waist, and with a lift of her hand, the gun she had obtained was already off safety; as she lifted her hand, she aimed it at the girl.
The scene unfolded before his eyes, the villager’s pupils widened slightly, and he abruptly halted midway.
The hoe in his hand was still raised high, his face twisted, his eyes bloodshot and red, but Flossie Wright’s motion seemed like hitting a pause button, forcibly preventing him from making any moves.
Flossie Wright raised an eyebrow, her thin lips curling into a cold arc, "You might want to reconsider."
The villager’s face changed slightly.
His eyes darted towards the girl, a struggle and resistance appearing in his eyes, but in the end, only submission remained.

He couldn’t let his daughter be harmed.
As a father, that’s just how it is.
To save his life, Flossie Wright could only choose such a bargaining chip, which was the primary condition for survival.
