Looking up at the deserted drill ground, Flossie Wright stretched languidly, planning to take a few laps before assembling.
However, she had only taken two steps when the mobile phone in her hand began to vibrate.
It was a call.
Without any note, just a string of unfamiliar numbers.
Pulling on the talk button, Flossie Wright placed the phone to her ear.
"...Hello."
Gauging the voice, it was somewhat hesitant, perhaps uncertain.
It was a man.
Perceiving his doubt, Flossie Wright explained: "This is Rowdy Brightwill’s phone."
"Oh, then I’ve not dialed wrong." The voice on the other end became refreshingly bright and then he asked, "Where is he? And who are you..."
"He’s in the canteen; I’m his friend."
Flossie Wright made a brief explanation, without intending to conceal anything.
"Uh, you’re in the Forces too?"
"A female soldier?"
"Do you need anything?"
Cutting him off, Flossie Wright asked directly.
"Oh, yes, I do have something," the voice hesitated, "Please relay a message to Rowdy for me. I’ll be coming over tonight, and have him arrange for a half-hour leave tomorrow morning for a female soldier named Flossie Wright."
Flossie Wright raised her eyebrow.
Not hearing a response, the voice asked again, "Any questions?"
After pondering, Flossie Wright finally spoke, "I am Flossie Wright."
"...Pardon?"
A voice tinted with surprise wafted in, Flossie’s eyes narrowed slightly as she continued, "Do you need me for something?"
"Ah..." There was a pause, then the man slow and hesitantly voiced, "If you are really Flossie Wright, you will know tomorrow."
Deliberate suspense.
Mysterious.
Feeling bizarre, Flossie Wright directly hung up.
Putting her mobile back into her pocket, Flossie Wright paused in her track. Then, instantly changing her mind, she turned about towards the canteen.
On the highway.
Derek Moore looked at the abruptly ended call, apparent surprise etched on his face.
Was this, Flossie Wright?
The Flossie Wright Willie Ash mentioned...?
Feeling extremely mysterious, Derek Moore contemplated before scrolling through his contacts, finding the note labeled ’Captain’, then hitting dial.
"What is it."
The voice on the other end, without even a hint of questioning tone.
Decisive, concise.
Derek Moore hesitated for a sec, "Captain, uh..."
"I’m almost at the Eastern Fleet," Derek Moore sat upright.
"Uh-huh," Glenn Hutchinson paused a moment, "And?"
Clearly implying, cut the crap.
Thinking it over, Derek Moore continued, "All the things you needed, none are missed."
Glenn Hutchinson said nothing.
The conversation suddenly plunged into a strange silence.
Derek Moore felt a chill crawl up his back, evidently picking up on Glenn Hutchinson’s dissatisfaction, yet he couldn’t articulate his suspicion.
Strangely awkward for a man in his thirties.
After a bit, he opened his mouth, "Captain, I think...you..."
Click, call ended.
Derek Moore looked at his phone, his eyelid twitching.
An ominous feeling crept over him.
Not long after, the ringtone blared again. This time it was Willie Ash’s call.
"Hey, Little Moore, did you do something to tick someone off?"
