The scorching sun, the jungle, the cool breeze.
Flossie Wright toyed with her newly acquired spoils, the unsheathed military knife reflected a dazzle of cold light as it easily slashed away the obstacles in front of her, proving its sharpness.
Not far away, two soldiers in marine camouflage were sitting back to back on the ground, both hands tied behind their backs, they were desperately trying to untie each other’s restraints with a painful persistence.
"You reckon, if the Captain found out that we were subdued by a newbie... No, a woman at that, and we were completely stripped of our gear, would he kill us miserably?" Said the square-faced soldier with a grimace, as he labored to free his companion.
"What do you think?" retorted the soldier who was being untied, shivering involuntarily at the thought of his captain’s stern face.
"So..." The square-faced soldier drew out his words purposefully.
"Heaven knows. Earth knows." You know and I know.
The conversation subsided, plunging the atmosphere into silence. The only sounds were the rustling of the wind and the rubbing of the ropes.
After a long while, the square-faced soldier, who had successfully untied the ropes, couldn’t help but growl in frustration, "Damn, I don’t ever want to see her again!"
The soldier who had been untied showed a darker expression, silent rage churning on his face, likely sharing the same sentiments as his companion’s.
Only due to a momentary lapse did they fall victim to the newbie’s trickery, allowing themselves to be trapped and interrogated. Their pride wouldn’t easily let them swallow their humiliation.
Once both had freed themselves, they exchanged a few knowing glances before dutifully contacting their Captain.
The walkie-talkie buzzed to life, before either of them could speak, they heard their Captain’s gruff voice, "What is it?"
"Reporting to the Captain," the square-faced soldier said earnestly, "There’s a new recruit on the island, seems to be undergoing survival training."
"I know." The Captain’s voice sounded irritated, "Why should their training concern you?!"

"Oh, okay."
The square-faced soldier nodded in agreement, sending an uneasy glance towards his companion. After their irate Captain had cut off their communication, he sighed helplessly.
If the Captain knew just how they were mistreated by this so-called newbie, would he still speak the same way?
By noon in Maxwell Moore, Flossie Wright finally found the second marker after munching on a couple of compressed biscuits.
It was a poem inscribed on a cliff face. A rope was tied to a tree near the cliff, one would have to descend the rope to read the poem clearly. Underneath the cliff, the tumultuous sea roared against the rocks, sending sprays of frothy sea foam in all directions. There seemed to be no sign of safety precautions.
Flossie circled the cliff edge twice before finally descending down the rope a few meters. Using her exceptional vision, she memorized the poem’s title, then agilely climbed back up. Based on her childhood memories, she noted down the poem word for word.
"Flossie, is it really you?"
Just as Flossie finished penning down the last word and was about to put away her notebook, she heard a surprised voice. Turning her gaze, she saw Janice Wood huffing heavily as she ran towards her.
Flossie slowly stood up, unfazed by the unexpected encounter with Janice.
Janice sped up to reach Flossie’s side, giving her up and down look. The shock in her eyes gradually intensified, eventually morphing into confusion.
"Where did you get all these..."
"Stolen." Flossie stated bluntly, immediately tossing over the military knife.
She had encountered a few misfortunates on the road and decided to rob them. With three water bottles and two military knives in her hand, she made quite an eye-catching sight.
