The Hutchinson Family’s household rules have always been lax, allowing the descendants to develop freely. As long as there are no issues with their behavior, the remaining matters are much more relaxed.
"Grandma, sister is here."
The moment they entered the door, young Hutchinson was shouting towards the living room from the entrance, his words inevitably carrying a sense of excitement.
When Kirana Williams, who heard the voice, came to the door, she saw Flossie Wright, who had changed her shoes, at first glance. Flossie’s delicate face, calm demeanor, and composed manner surprised Kirana unexpectedly for a moment, causing her to pause at the entrance for a few seconds before reacting.
When she had just answered the phone call from Glenn Hutchinson, she didn’t hear him say he was bringing someone home, so she thought he was just coming to visit when he had some free time, which Kirana didn’t pay much attention to. More importantly, she had arranged for him to meet potential dates during these past few days, but he had basically dismissed all of them, so Kirana did not hold out much hope.
As for the "sister" mentioned by young Hutchinson, Kirana initially thought it was a joke when she first heard it, and since she could not get any information from Glenn, she put it aside and did not expect that this girl would actually be brought home by Glenn today.
Flossie stepped forward a few steps, naturally nodding at Kirana. Although her greeting was somewhat cold, it seemed perfectly in line with her calm demeanor.
"Come on in,"
Once she had processed it, Kirana immediately showed a smile on her face. However, as she invited Flossie in, her eyes couldn’t help but take in the young woman’s appearance.
Walking into the living room holding young Hutchinson’s hand, Flossie, who had never been restrained or polite, was entirely at ease and did not appear to be in the least bit agitated. It seemed as though she had come to her own home, completely lacking the nervousness of a "daughter-in-law meeting the mother-in-law."
Kirana was someone who loved lively atmospheres. Because Mr. Hutchinson was rather rigid, most of their guests tended to be like him, leading to rather dull gatherings. The two younger ones didn’t like to bring friends home when they were in school, and now that they were working, she barely saw a soul. Everything changed for the better when Glenn brought young Hutchinson home.
Now that Glenn had not only brought someone home but also a woman, Kirana inevitably became a bit too enthusiastic, asking a host of trivial questions. She was only one step away from grabbing Flossie’s hand and inquiring about her family situation.
Having become accustomed to Glenn’s usual calm and composure, Flossie was a bit overwhelmed seeing the contrast between him and his enthusiastic mother, Kirana.
Glenn Hutchinson arrived a little later after parking the car, and was immediately greeted by the sight of his mother chatting pleasantly with Flossie. After the initial surprise, his expression quickly softened.
"Glenn, your father won’t be back until this afternoon. I’ve already bought the groceries."
Upon seeing her beloved son enter the door, Kirana had no intention of engaging in small talk with him. Waving her hand, she handed the daunting task of preparing "lunch" over to Glenn.
Kirana was a truly fitting match for the Hutchinson Family. Before her marriage, she had been an intelligent and resourceful genius in the business world. After marrying, she had withdrawn from the world of business and faithfully started her role as a housewife. Yet apart from occasionally taking care of the kids, there seemed to be nothing else for her to do.
Most importantly, she did not know how to cook.
Mr. Hutchinson also spoiled her. When he was not home, they would either order takeout or hire a housekeeper, and when he was home, he was responsible for almost all the cooking.
