Clara Birch, who’d been knocked to the ground, heard the noise and got up. Seeing Nathan Foster, she grimaced with a look of joy that turned her ordinarily plain face into something ghostly, covered in bruising. One look from most people sent a chill up their spine and made them want to escape her presence.
"Agnes, get up."
Clara scrambled up painfully, then forced herself towards Agnes Parker, who was lying on the ground motionless, and did her best to pull her up.

Nevertheless, few showed them any sympathy.
Initially they conspired to bully Janice Wood, it’s karma that Janice’s friend has now stepped in to help her. They are merely reaping what they’ve sown. Regardless of knowing this, it’s hard for anybody to lend them aid.

Instructor Nathan Foster had just arrived when he noticed Clara and Agnes on the ground, which made him look visibly taken aback.
He knew Clara and Agnes were supposed to spar with Flossie Wright, but...
How did they end up so badly beaten?
Seeing both women so battered, Nathan unconsciously shivered. Whoever had done this hadn’t held back.
Feeling Winsley Scott’s restlessness, Rowdy Brightwill placed his hands firmly on his shoulder, and wore a sardonic grin as he said to Nathan, "It was simply a normal match. They had the courage to challenge Flossie Wright, both of them!"
The lightness in his words belied their harshly mocking tenor.

After being humiliated by Rowdy’s pre-emptive strike of words, Clara and Agnes turned a bit pale and felt awkward, but they regretted it deeply, as they had lost their chance to complain to Nathan.
"Oh." Surprisingly, Nathan didn’t question any further, but merely acknowledged the statement.
He was clever enough to know that since Captain Bard had already settled the matter, he shouldn’t look into it further. It was only the shock of how tough Flossie fought that startled him. Now that Rowdy and others had openly sided with Flossie, Nathan wouldn’t alienate his brothers over this; and to be fair, he knew who was wrong...
A glance at Janice made it all clear.
"What are the rest of you standing around for? Do you want to fail this examination outright?!"
Nathan’s stern gaze swept over the new soldiers, his voice filled with a warning. This scared all the recruits into quickly running into the classroom.
Watching the new soldiers leaving, Nathan felt a little upset. He looked around and saw the crowd still lingering, their faces glowing with enjoyment. He called out sternly, "Weren’t two of you going to take them to the infirmary?"
People looked at each other, communicating silently if they should help. They were all weighing the pros and cons in their hearts. Regardless of how much they disliked Clara and Agnes, they wouldn’t just ignore them.
During this lull, Flossie and Becca came to Janice’s side and inspected her injuries. Luckily, Janice was nowhere near as badly injured as Clara and Agnes, which brought a sigh of relief from everyone.
Meanwhile, a few of the male soldiers seemed to have reached an agreement and moved toward Clara and Agnes to assist them.
