While muttering her complaints in her heart, Jocelyn pushed the clueless Belinda to the faraway table and made her sit down.
Watching all this, Flossie Wright fell silent.
Regardless of Perry’s unpredictable mind, she began to order breakfast.
She chose the simple four-dish meal: crab dumplings, magnolia cake, butter cookies, and preserved egg with lean meat porridge.
The first three dishes were readily available, so they were served first. The preserved egg and lean meat porridge were made to order by the boss.

His tone was uncompromising.
Turning her head, Flossie acted as if she hadn’t heard him.
Perry scowled. "Aren’t you grown up?"
Flossie frowned innocently.
In their past interactions, nobody had ever forced her to eat, especially not Perry. When they were together, it was usually a case of heavy drinking and gorging on food...
She had never seen him this concerned before.
However, Perry had never seen her fall ill either.
"I can’t eat any more."
Having convinced herself, Flossie refused outright.

The two people faced each other, their gazes clashing, each refusing to back down.

She rolled her eyes at Perry and reluctantly picked up her spoon to eat the porridge.
The porridge was still hot and she was devoid of any appetite, so she ate slowly.
She had only eaten a third of the porridge when Jocelyn and Belinda finished their meals. They seemed to be waiting for her, however, and showed no hurry to leave.
By the time she was halfway through, Perry Reed also finished his breakfast. He sat leisurely by her side, quietly watching her.
"What is it? Why did you want to see me?"
As she casually ate her porridge, Flossie looked sideways at Perry and asked.
There was no way Perry had sought her out without reason.
