"Flossie Wright, if you dare to be our dead weight, you’re dead!"
Becca Reyes’ voice sounded full of vigor, her words seemed like a warning, but they didn’t carry any such intent. If anything, her expression was quite gentle, even showing a hint of joy.
Looking inexplicably at the few who stepped up to her, Flossie knit her brows slightly, sensing an ominous premonition, "What’s going on?"
Since seeing Austin Shepherd yesterday, Becca had kept a cold front with her all night. Flossie hadn’t seen Becca that morning, but she was quite sure that Becca wouldn’t have such a change of heart overnight.
Something must have happened during the morning’s training.
Somehow, Flossie had a rough guess about it.
"You’re assigned to our team," Becca spread out her hands, concealing the emotions she had shown earlier. After a brief pause, she explained straightforwardly, "From today on, for the next month or so, you need to move forward or back with us."
As soon as she finished speaking, Stuart Weston, standing behind Becca, came forward. He rudely placed his elbow on Becca’s shoulder, looked Flossie up and down with a scrutinizing gaze, clearly showing disdain, "Even though your grades might drag ours down, I beg you, don’t let it drop too bad... Ow..."
Before Stuart could finish his sentence, Becca’s elbow swept past, striking his jaw and causing him to grimace in pain with tears pooling in his eyes. He pointed at Becca in disbelief, "You woman, how can you be so ruthless..."
"If you don’t want to be with us, go argue with Shepard," Becca moved her wrist, her face quickly turning grim, "We didn’t force you."
Stuart gasped in pain while clutching his jaw, then looked pitifully at his "teammates". Not receiving any sympathy, he grudgingly lowered his head, mumbling quietly, "I was just saying."
However, all this was ignored by Flossie. She narrowed her vigilant eyes and looked coldly at Becca, "Who decided it?"
She was hoping Austin Shepherd hadn’t forgotten so quickly that after seeking her opinion yesterday, he just turned around and put her into a group without a word.
This kind of thing is not fun at all.
Becca tried to answer instinctively, but then she realized she must be wrong. After swallowing her words, she thought for a moment and shook her head at Flossie, indicating that she didn’t know either.
When Austin announced the teams, Becca’s main focus was on Flossie. Austin had just dismissed the meeting when she and the other two team members rushed to the kitchen. It didn’t even occur to her who put Flossie’s name there.
She knew Austin Shepherd. He was a very principled man. He wouldn’t sneak around and change things after having sought Flossie’s opinion. For him, this would be a very awkward thing to do, so he would avoid it.
If it wasn’t Austin, who could it be?
"Perhaps, some higher-up has taken a liking to you?" Becca touched her chin, speculating, "As you know, few people would seek our opinions like Shepard does. If someone higher-ranking than him wanted to make decisions for you, then..."
Flossie slightly frowned, she couldn’t figure out which "higher-up" would be so bored as to do this.
