Having given her orders, Flossie Wright paid no more attention to Calvin Ramos’s condition, but directly lay down and fell asleep on the grassland next to her.
The night was growing increasingly silent, every moment bearing its weight.
Two or three hours later, Flossie, alerted by a noise, abruptly opened her eyes which gleamed like polished black gems, their brightness unmatched in the dark night.
What met her eyes was a sky adorned with a bright moon and twinkling stars. The night was a deep, intense black, as if it could drip ink. She propped herself up with one hand, and as she sat up, she felt a gaze on her. She glanced over warily, catching sight of Calvin’s smirk. There was a hint of appraisal and inquiry in his eyes. His handsome face was blurred in the soft moonlight.
"What are you looking at?"
Flossie frowned, her voice cold as she addressed him.

Being examined like this wouldn’t necessarily reveal anything about her, but it was still an irksome intrusion.
Calvin leaned forward slightly, his eyes shimmering with the gentle moonlight, radiating an all-encompassing warmth. A pleasant smile graced his cheeks, and he commented in all earnestness, "You look beautiful".
His voice was clear and mellow, his tone gracefully gentle.
But his evaluation did not seem to be in earnest.
Flossie focused her eyes intently on the man in front of her. He seemed gentle enough, but there was an air of ostentation around him, a hint of something masked in his smile. As if something hidden in the dark was lying in wait for her.
The man, who had always appeared gentle as jade, was beginning to give her a sense of danger.
Picking up her sniper rifle, Flossie aimed directly at his throat. Her narrowed eyes flashed a terrifying murderous intent. "I don’t know what you’re up to," she spat, her voice filled with threat, "But after these exercises, I hope you stay away from me."
Unfazed by Flossie’s actions, Calvin was accustomed to her bold demeanor and spontaneous behavior. He believed that she was capable of anything, but having become accustomed to her, he was able to see any move she made without changing his countenance.
His expression grew gentler as he looked upon Flossie, the seriousness in his gaze undeniable. But just as he was about to speak, several silhouettes silently crept towards their stronghold from below.
Flossie’s brows were knitted tightly, her attention drawn towards these individuals. She retracted her sniper rifle.
Those sneaking past shared their goal, five in number. Flossie observed them closely, only to recognize them as the survivors she had encountered the previous night. A flash of impatience flickered in her eyes.
She should have eliminated them all back then.
Typically, soldiers preferred to hide traps near their strongholds. They had already scouted out the area and found many landmines buried nearby, which were quite challenging to disarm. Most often hidden in plain sight, without prior knowledge, one could easily trigger them, leaving no chance for escape.
As expected, as these fools quietly approached, an uncanny mine was triggered suddenly. An awkward rookie of the red team, yet to process what was happening, stepped forward, setting off the landmine with a loud explosion, thoroughly alarming the patrolling blue soldiers at the front of the stronghold—
Flossie frowned, feeling slightly distressed, but her sniper rifle did not falter. She aimed at the leading blue soldier who was about to fire at the rookies. With her right eye slightly closed, her index finger moved relentlessly, taking out one adversary after another with a headshot. Until she had fired her last round, the blue soldiers who rushed out were all shot in the head, blue smoke rising up before they could even comprehend what was happening.
