"Comrade rival-in-love," Flossie Wright stepped forward, facing her with a palm on her shoulder, and spoke gently, "Can a single fish buy your loyalty?"
Devina Millet was immediately speechless.
So much for not being rivals, huh?!
Her heart full of doubt and hostility didn’t lessen, but Devina Millet wasn’t someone who couldn’t adapt. She paused, adjusted her emotions, "This is a mission, let’s not mix personal matters."
Flossie tilted her head, leaning close to her cheek, and asked with a hooked smile, "Can you separate the two?"
"I’ll try my best."
Comrade Devina behaved with utmost sincerity.
But in her heart, she was making a wager.
She bet that before Flossie Wright, sincerity might be more pleasing to her than lies.
Removing her hand, Flossie Wright slipped it into her pocket and then asked with a casual air, "How are your cooking skills?"
"Proficient."
Devina Millet answered resolutely.
Flossie Wright couldn’t see Devina Millet’s expression, but she doubted her nonetheless by intuition.
Devina Millet wasn’t an easy target; she probably lied, but Flossie Wright wasn’t buying it completely either.
"Would I even need to lie to you?" Devina Millet’s tone carried a hint of irritation.
After a slight pause, Flossie Wright looked her up and down for a couple of seconds, then decisively concluded, "Deal."
No sooner had the words fallen than Devina Millet immediately breathed a sigh of relief.
And so, the two, having come to a unanimous agreement, began to prepare for cooking the fish over a fire.
The weather started to be fickle again, with a fine drizzle falling from the sky, but fortunately, the rain was light, and there were some dry twigs on the ground, making it relatively easy to start a fire.
Devina Millet took over handling the two live fish.
Resigned, she headed to the nearby stream, intending to clean the two fish thoroughly.
Flossie Wright waited for half an hour but didn’t see her return.
After starting the fire and collecting a pile of kindling, Flossie Wright felt something was off and went to the creek to look for Devina Millet.
"Damn it, it’s just a fish, why is it so hard to deal with?"
Having just found the figure crouching by the stream, Flossie Wright heard Devina Millet’s muttering.
Her expression immediately darkened.
She hurried over.
It was nearly six in the morning. The originally dark sky was gradually brightening, and despite the overcast weather, visibility was much clearer than usual.
Taking a few more steps, Flossie Wright saw the situation clearly.
Devina Millet crouched on a rock, holding a military knife with a ferocious gleam in her eyes, viciously hacking at the fish in her hand.
Her gaze shifted slightly, landing on the fish pressed against the stone.
It was a pitiful sight.
In both her past and present life, Flossie Wright had seen many people with poor knife techniques.
The person before her was, without a doubt, the worst she had ever seen.
The fish was split into three parts.
The head and tail being chopped off was understandable, but she had almost cut it into equal thirds, with plenty of meat left on both the head and tail.
And Devina Millet, she only dealt with the body of the fish.
Even the body was a pitiful sight; she tried so hard to scrape off the scales, but while some were left untouched, other parts were scraped clean off, along with the flesh.
The other fish had not yet been processed.
In that instant, Flossie Wright felt like she had been played.
Approaching, Flossie Wright called out coolly.

Engrossed in dealing with the fish to the point of frustration, Devina Millet, who hadn’t noticed anyone approaching, finally snapped back from her angry and volatile state.
Coming back to her senses, Devina Millet looked up slightly, her gaze towards Flossie Wright somewhat guilty.
