Flossie Wright cast a sidelong glance at him.
This master probably finds nothing pleasing to the eye right now.
After thinking for a bit, Flossie remembered the lesson from last time and reminded Perry Reed, "Don’t make it too salty."
Perry responded as if it was just a routine instruction.
Having sat back down, Perry started to salt the fish and snake. As Flossie had suggested, he didn’t use much, simply seasoning it to taste.
Soon enough, the fish and snake were, in a rather sorry state, finished in his hands.
"What will you eat?"
Perry, having taken down both the fish and snake, asked Flossie.
She gave a simple answer, casually laying the firewood down.
Perry passed the cooked snake to her.
Flossie took it.
She tore off a piece of the snake meat and sampled it for flavor.
It tasted better than she had expected.
Although there was a hint of charring, the meat inside was still fresh, and with the right amount of salt, all in all, it was definitely much better than what she could have made.
The two ate their food in silence.
Flossie’s movements were slow, her hands a bit stiff from the cold, and since it was still early, she wasn’t in a hurry to journey on.
But eventually, after about twenty minutes, she had finished eating the snake.
Tossing the last bones into the fire, Flossie looked up to see Perry’s eyes staring at her.
Seeing her done with her meal, a cold light flashed in Perry’s eyes as he spoke icily.
"What?" Flossie arched her eyebrows.
"Convince me," Perry said slowly, "to let you stay."
"Do I need a reason to want something?"
Throwing another log into the fire, Flossie asked unhurriedly, a touch of indifference in her voice.
Perry’s brow furrowed slightly, and his lips curled into a sly smile, "Then do I need a reason to tie you up and take you back with me?"
Flossie propped her chin with one hand, her gaze sweeping over him back and forth, until their eyes finally met.
"What kind of reason do you want?" Flossie asked back.
"That depends on what you say," Perry responded in a tone suggesting negotiation, but his expression clearly indicated it was far from just that.
"I’ll think about it," Flossie answered nonchalantly.
"I’ll give you time."
His gaze growing deeper, yet the smile at the corner of Perry’s mouth became more devilish.
Flossie’s expression stiffened slightly.
But barefooted people don’t fear those with shoes—Flossie might not be a match for Perry, yet since she was the bargaining chip herself, she didn’t really have to fear him.
"I’m going to sleep."
Flossie sidestepped the issue.
"As you wish," Perry acquiesced smoothly.
With a fleeting glance, Flossie didn’t continue to entangle with him but instead laid down on the ground with the flow.
She closed her eyes and began to sleep.
Perry swept a look and immediately furrowed his brows.
The entire cave was damp; the soil beneath, wet from the rain that must have fallen for a long time, gave off a moist air.
In the cold and damp environment,
Pausing for a moment, Perry twisted his eyebrows and stood up to walk over to Flossie.
"Erina Taylor, get up."
Kneeling before Flossie, Perry spoke softly, his icy voice unintentionally taking on a hint of tenderness.
Flossie Wright opened one eye and swept a somewhat inexplicable glance at him.

Perry Reed simply steadied her shoulder.
"What are you doing?"
Flossie’s eyes fully opened, her voice inevitably laced with a warning.
The next moment, she found herself forced to rest her head on Perry Reed’s thigh as a military cap, dried by the heat, was placed over her face.
"Continue sleeping."
Perry Reed said indifferently, as if with very little emotion.
After a pause, Flossie slightly knitted her brows but, after thinking for a while, she simply adjusted the cap and then settled down without moving, resting on Perry Reed.
Lying on the ground like this did pose some risks; probably one couldn’t even ensure waking up safely.
Since Perry Reed was willing to be this free pillow...
Flossie accepted it with peace of mind.
It wasn’t really a big deal anyway.
Too tired, and with her body temperature not yet recovered, Flossie fell into a deep sleep beside the increasingly roaring bonfire.
She slept soundly until it was dark.
When Flossie woke up, it was already 7 o’clock in the evening.
Her "pillow" had not changed.
It seemed that a coat had been placed over her.
Narrowing her eyes, Flossie slowly came to her senses and, upon opening her eyes, saw a military doctor’s coat covering her body, then Perry Reed’s handsome face looming close.
Perry Reed spoke in a very low voice.
Propping herself up on her elbows, Flossie realized at some point a trench coat had been placed beneath her.
Her brow furrowed tightly as she pushed herself up from the ground.
Perhaps it was due to a poor rest, but her head felt somewhat dizzy.
"Headache?"
Noticing her massaging her temples, Perry Reed narrowed his eyes and asked suddenly.
"It’ll be fine in a bit."
Waving her hand dismissively, Flossie said casually.
She had checked her forehead temperature, it was normal, so probably not a cold.
In fact, if she could catch a cold from sleeping like this, her body must have become so delicate that she could die in the jungle within a couple of days.
With five more days to go, the journey wouldn’t be any easier than now.
If she fell ill, she would be done for.
Holding two pieces of clothing, Flossie stood up and tossed the trench coat to Perry Reed while asking, as she looked towards the cave entrance.
Perry Reed caught it with his hand.
After several hours of drying, Flossie’s clothes were all dry, even her combat boots were warm, whereas Perry Reed, having sat there for so long in a shirt, must have a remarkable physique.
Also standing up, Perry Reed put on the trench coat and replied to her indifferently, "Went to look for food."
Flossie raised an eyebrow.
Then she turned to look in the direction of the cave entrance.
The sky had gone completely dark, and the heavy rain from the afternoon had decreased considerably.
"Is there anyone inside?"
As she pondered, a voice came from outside.
Upon reaching her ears, Flossie found it somewhat familiar.
Flossie didn’t pay much attention to that thought, instead immediately thinking of Perry Reed.
Perry Reed’s presence could not be discovered by the other students!
