Austin Shepherd’s intentions were actually quite simple. The upcoming training plan was bound to change, and it couldn’t be altered just because Becca Reyes and Flossie Wright, who had come temporarily to participate in the training, demanded it. The grouping of participants would be a serious matter; it couldn’t be approached with a casual attitude, let alone with inconsistency.
After all, both of them were in the cooking class, and to balance both roles, they were expected to bear more burden than others.
Now, they had two choices. One was to participate in the grouping and immerse themselves fully in training, because they couldn’t afford to hold others back. The other was to not participate in the grouping and just "guest star" following the training randomly, which would surely lead to their roles being undervalued. Consequently, they would only serve as cooks, which was equivalent to giving up this golden opportunity.
As expected, Becca Reyes, who hadn’t taken this seriously moments ago, found herself falling deep into thought.
She hadn’t originally wanted to enter the cooking class. Therefore, having the chance to train despite being part of the cooking class was something she held onto tightly. Of course, she wasn’t overly ambitious, nor did she plan to use this opportunity to leave the cooking class. She merely wished to avoid falling behind and not to overly exhaust herself. The demanding life she led even prevented her from thinking much about the future.
The choice thrown by Austin Shepherd was pivotal in defining their paths. If they chose to be "bystanders", they’d merely be ordinary cooks in the next two years, making it impossible to encounter such an opportunity again. Opting to progress or retreat with the others would signify the need for extra effort to keep up with others. But that could be exhausting, and they might not be able to persist....
Both replies were assertive.
Becca Reyes and Flossie Wright had spoken almost at the same time, but their answers were polar opposites.
Confronted with two different responses, a hint of surprise flashed across Austin Shepherd’s face, and he unconsciously turned his gaze towards Flossie Wright.
Simultaneously, Becca Reyes couldn’t help but turn to look at Flossie Wright who was standing calmly by her side.

Unable to conceal her confusion, her voice faltered with uncertainty, "Why?"
In her eyes, Flossie was always someone who wouldn’t flinch even when walking on the edge of a blade, during the usual exhausting training, Becca would always sneak in a few complaints. Flossie was physically weaker than her, yet she never grumbled about the brutal training. She would rest when she was worn out but until then she would bite the bullet and persevere without making a single sound of complaint.
So when Becca had been hesitant just now, she never anticipated that Flossie would refuse.
She always saw Flossie as someone more than just a cook. Flossie belonged to the vast ocean and the harsh challenges that he edge of the blade faced.
As a combat member of the Marine Corps, Flossie Wright wouldn’t be out of place!
"I’m just a cook."
Looking up lazily, Flossie’s reply was particularly indifferent.
The calm voice, accompanied by the sweeping evening breeze, was quickly scattered into the endless night sky, vanishing without a trace. It seemed as if what the others heard was merely an illusion.
Turning around intending to leave as soon as the words left her mouth, she headed directly towards the female soldier’s dormitory.
Becca Reyes watched her leave and couldn’t help but feel an inexplicable twinge of unease. It was as if her thought process had suddenly been diverted by ninety degrees, heading towards a destination she couldn’t predict. This sudden knot in the pit of her stomach made Becca realize for the first time that what Flossie Wright wanted might be completely different from her own.
