"The door is locked."
As the words fell, the footsteps on the fifth floor got closer and closer.
Each step, strikingly clear.
Flossie Wright raised her eyebrows slightly, responding in a nonchalant manner.
Clearly, she had a plan in mind.
Belinda Nichols’ eyes flickered as they fell on Flossie Wright.
Sure enough, Flossie was already standing in front of the lock, an iron wire in her hand that had appeared out of nowhere. She put the wire into the lock and turned it slightly. With a "click," the lock opened.
Watching the scene without betraying any emotion, Belinda followed Flossie’s lead onto the rooftop. As the loud voices approached, she stepped into the room and forcefully shut the door behind her with a "bang."
As she reached the rooftop and heard the noise, Flossie turned around in confusion, only to see Belinda, cold as ice, standing by the door.
Slightly vague, it was not very clear, but she could feel a hint of malevolence.
She was provoking the group behind them.
Shrugging, Flossie smirked. "There’s no one up here."
Belinda responded in an indifferent tone.
At first glance, the expansive rooftop came fully into view. It was deserted, void of any human figures.
The night wind was slightly chilly, with no stars visible in the deep dark sky. All one could see was the vast expanse of darkness, seemingly impenetrable.
Even for eyes that have adapted to darkness, the visibility on this expansive rooftop wasn’t too far.
"Do you want to win?"
Gazing up at the sky, Flossie asked nonchalantly.
She was talking with her back to Belinda, but it was clear that the question was meant for Belinda.
Belinda hesitated before asking, "Don’t you?"
Flossie turned around, her expression indifferent, revealing nothing.
"I want to win." Belinda enforced each word.
"Why?" Flossie looked puzzled.
"Because I don’t want to lose."
Unchanging in her demeanor, Belinda still stared at Flossie coldly. Yet her eyes concealed in the darkness revealed a hint of stubbornness.
After watching her for two seconds, Flossie’s eyes darkened.
Indeed, not wanting to lose was a good reason...
Given that you don’t want to lose, there must be a motivation to keep moving forward.
However, not wanting to lose is never the same as not accepting defeat.
Before the two could continue their conversation, the door was harshly knocked.
The intense noise was strikingly loud in this open space.
The atmosphere immediately turned tense.
Belinda immediately went on alert, positioning herself adeptly by the door, ready to strike whoever was trying to break in.
However, Flossie paused and frowned for two seconds, then calmly approached the door.
"Thump. Thump. Thump."
She raised her finger and methodically tapped three times.
The sound of knocking subsided surprisingly quickly.
"We’re heading to the first floor. If you still want to damage public property, consider my words wasted."
Flossie spoke slowly, her expression relaxed.
Belinda gave Flossie a puzzled look.
On the other side of the door, a bizarre silence descended.
This development... wasn’t right!
To believe or not to believe?
"Let’s go."
Flossie turned and walked towards the edge of the rooftop. As she spoke, she raised her hand to beckon Belinda.
