"Didn’t notice?" Willie Ash exclaimed with wide eyes.
Such a big guy, how could he not notice?
"Not much of a presence," Joshua Bailey shrugged.
"..." Willie Ash was unexpectedly at a loss for words.
With a teasing smile in his eyes, Joshua Bailey spat out two words.
"..." The color drained from Willie Ash’s face.
"On the road, I didn’t notice, but at the very least, when I saw her get up, I never heard her complain. As for her physical fitness... it doesn’t seem as bad as you guys said," Joshua Bailey objectively commented, then spread his hands, "Other than that, I haven’t noticed much yet."
With only a few glances, he couldn’t discern too many problems.
But that Cassie Ferguson...
"Fine," Willie Ash nodded, intending to dust off his butt and leave, but just as he was about to stand up, something suddenly came to mind, and he sat back down, "I heard you’re not treating everyone equally?"
"You sure pay a lot of attention to me," Joshua Bailey chuckled.
Willie Ash touched his nose and smiled at him, "Heard it on the road. Aren’t you afraid the captain is going to kill you for doing that?"
"Take a hike!"
Joshua Bailey raised an eyebrow, and his elbow headed toward Willie Ash.
Giggling, Willie Ash immediately rolled over, dodging the attack and quickly standing up from the stairs.
"Josh, you keep training. I’m heading to the cafeteria," he said deliberately to him as he ran off without a trace.
Joshua Bailey couldn’t be bothered with him, watched his retreat for a few moments, then withdrew his gaze and continued to watch the new recruits on the training field.
Just watching is much more boring than running himself.
Around seven o’clock.
The sky had completely darkened.
The streetlights beside the track, unbeknownst to when, were all lit, dimly illuminating the road.
All the new recruits, one after another, had finished all thirty laps.
Flossie Wright’s physical endurance had improved long ago and, although not particularly outstanding, at least ranked above average among this group.
Belinda Nichols, needless to say, was even stronger than Flossie Wright.
Becca Reyes was physically weaker, but through her relentless determination and for Frogman’s sake, she made it ahead of the last group, avoiding the last ten places.
As for Iris Dukes—
This little weirdo’s stamina completely redefined Flossie and the others’ assessment of her.
She left Mariana Buck, Jessie Grain, and even Cassie Ferguson behind, managing to compete with the male soldiers for the top three spots.
After these several dozen laps, everyone began to see her in a new light.
"Beep—beep—beep—"
Seeing they had finished, Joshua Bailey blew his whistle at the right moment.
The group, seizing the time to rest, felt their heads swell upon hearing the sound.
But, as soldiers obey orders as their duty, they ran to assemble as soon as the whistle blew out of habit.
As they came over one by one, Joshua Bailey picked up the megaphone again and shouted at those who fell behind, "The last ten, no need to assemble, just keep running."
Thus, most of them turned back, looking at those ten unlucky ones with a hint of sympathy.
In half a minute, assembly was complete.
Somehow, Joshua Bailey had a list in his hands, and he ordered everyone, "Go and get your backpacks."
Without delay, this group of professional soldiers went to fetch their backpacks neatly and orderly.
Immediately following that, they came back carrying their backpacks to assemble.
The entire squad quickly looked uniform and neat again.
"Congratulations, today’s ’torture’ is over, and now you can return to the dormitory and enjoy a good night’s sleep,"
The day was nearing its end, and Joshua Bailey seemed tired too, not in the mood for any more chatter with them.
After speaking, he gestured with his hand and called them to follow him.
The so-called dormitory was a three-story building.
Under the dim light, the entire building looked very decrepit, as if abandoned.
The darkness pressed down from above, and combined with the stark white snow, it somehow gave off the eerie impression of a haunted house.
The male soldiers were on the first and second floors, while the female soldiers were on the third.
A dormitory room housed at least eight, and at most twelve people.
Joshua Bailey stuck the dormitory list at the entrance of the staircase on the first floor and then said nothing more, simply walking away.
Thus a group swarmed the list, eager to find out their room assignments.
Flossie Wright and the others were not nearly as eager, waiting for the rest to finish looking.
"Flossie, look."
Standing downstairs, Becca Reyes, having just recovered a bit of energy, nudged Flossie Wright’s shoulder, pointing her eyebrows toward the third floor.
Flossie Wright followed the direction she pointed.
In one of the rooms on the third floor, the light had turned on, unknowingly.
The occupants inside, needless to say.
Not bothering to take a closer look, Flossie Wright withdrew her gaze.
She really wasn’t that interested.
"There..." Becca Reyes touched her chin in thought, "Probably room 303, I guess."
She made up her mind not to go to 303!
Becca Reyes was resolute.
She had no desire to bump into such a formidable female soldier.
The three of them waited downstairs.
Stuart Weston and Rowdy Brightwill were more than happy to play the role of escorts, always staying by their sides.
Nobody noticed that the little weirdo, Iris Dukes, had disappeared without a trace.
By the time a few of them realized, they found her squeezing through the crowd, her petite figure pushing through toughly, and she managed to worm her way in.
Soon enough, she emerged from the crowd, running towards them with a peach-blossom smile.
"You saw it?" Becca Reyes asked her.
"Hmm-hmm," Iris Dukes nodded vigorously, grinning ear to ear, "Flossie, Sister Becca, Sister Belinda, we are all assigned to the same dorm room."
"Which room?"
While asking, Becca Reyes grabbed her backpack back from Stuart Weston.
Iris Dukes answered resolutely.
Becca Reyes’s motion of taking her bag instantly stiffened.
It really was—
Whatever you don’t want, you end up getting!
However, Iris Dukes hadn’t realized anything and continued cheerfully, "Oh, and your Forces colleagues, Mariana Buck and Jessie Grain, they’re in 303 too."
Becca Reyes was completely at a loss for words.
