The sun rose in the east, shedding golden light.
Autumn winds cavorted in the vast field as new recruits garbed in ocean camouflage ran by, weaving vibrant hues between heaven and earth.
"Go on, decide what you want to compete in."
Rowdy Brightwill stood facing the morning light. The early dawn cast a long, faint shadow of him. As he spoke, he slightly turned his head, his eyes smiled with sparkling mirth dancing within them, as if he were imbued with the freshness of the morning.
Drake Easton stood by him with his arms crossed, watching soldiers run on the track. Occasionally, a passing soldier would greet them hesitantly.
"Let’s jog." Drake Easton suggested thoughtfully, clearly lacking Rowdy Brightwill’s competitive spirit.
Although they had come here for different reasons, they must not neglect their physical stamina. Otherwise, they’d surely fall behind when they return. While they termed it a competition, which included staking a little bet, the primary goal was to build up their physical fitness.
"Deal." Rowdy Brightwill snapped his fingers, the corners of his eyes crinkling into a smile. His handsome face, under the soft gleaming light, looked even more dazzling.
Drake Easton apparently didn’t share the same interest in Rowdy Brightwill’s face. As soon as he agreed, he headed straight for the track.
However, he had barely taken a step when someone by his side caught his wrist.
Brow furrowed in confusion, he heard Rowdy Brightwill’s voice, "Look for me, is that Flossie Wright there with that guy?"
Pausing for a moment, Drake Easton followed Rowdy Brightwill’s gaze. Amid the scattered crowd, he immediately noticed a man with a steady gait. His handsome side profile appeared even more profound under the light. With distinctive features and an upright posture, the man portrayed the gravity and steadiness of a soldier, yet there was a hint of satisfaction and laziness in his demeanor, almost like he was strolling leisurely.
Such a conspicuous figure on the view, attracted everyone’s attention as soon as he appeared. Even the soldiers who were training couldn’t help but shift their focus, looking at him with awe and admiration. But their attention soon diverted to the person in his arms.
The man seemed to effortlessly cradle a soldier in his arms, who judging by the frame, was likely a woman. Her one foot was exposed to the air, her fair skin stained with fresh blood. Her face was nicely concealed within the man’s embrace, prompting various speculations yet leaving everyone clueless about her identity.
Drake Easton’s gaze grew serious as he looked at the two of them for a while before nodding solemnly.

"Let’s go!"
Rowdy Brightwill’s voice had a heavy tone, and he immediately started to head towards the man’s direction.
Left behind, Drake Easton paused for a moment. Watching Rowdy Brightwill walk away in the blink of an eye, he was at a loss for words. They were talking about the guy, who could identify from such a distance that the female soldier he carried was whom. Thinking about Rowdy Brightwill’s animosity towards those people, Drake Easton took a moment to consider before he followed suit.
Although unaware of the other’s purpose to come, if he gets into a fight with Rowdy Brightwill, it would certainly be no joke.
"Well, well, isn’t that the Captain dropping in for a visit?"
Rowdy Brightwill breezily stepped forward, blocking the man’s path. While his words were laden with mockery, he casually glanced at the person in the man’s arms. Unsurprisingly, he saw Flossie Wright’s dust-stained face.
The man’s gaze turned icy. He wore a mild expression of doubt in his brows and asked calmly, "And you are?"
Rowdy Brightwill was rendered momentarily speechless, his face abruptly turning dark.
Simultaneously, Drake Easton also arrived. His demeanor was much better than Rowdy Brightwill’s. Standing tall in a formal salute, he called out powerfully, "Captain Hutchinson."
