Flossie Wright tilted her head slightly, looking down at the Trident Folding Knife with some hesitation.
This knife, after all, was quite handy.
"Unwilling?" Rowdy Brightwill quirked a brow.
Gazing slightly down, Flossie Wright walked to her cabinet, opened the door, rummaged inside, and then nonchalantly tossed something over.
A black object flew through the air. Rowdy Brightwill looked up a bit, catching the object thrown at him in the overhead light.
Looking down, he took a closer look—it was a pair of sunglasses.
"It’s yours."
Flossie Wright clapped her hands and then closed the cabinet door.
Rowdy Brightwill played with the sunglasses in his hand, his lips twitching as he looked at Flossie Wright with an odd expression, "You sure are generous!"
"Hand over the knife."
Shrugging her shoulders, Flossie Wright extended her hand toward him.
Rowdy Brightwill sighed, looked at the stingy Flossie Wright disappointingly, then reluctantly tossed the Folding Knife over.
Flossie was holding the Folding Knife in her hand, casually glanced at it, and then put it in her pocket.
"I’ll treat you to a meal tomorrow."
Flossie raised an eyebrow, making a promise.
He was instantly delighted at this offer.
Compared to Rowdy’s gift, the sunglasses Flossie had duped, deceived, and stolen as a return gift showed a certain lack of heart. So, before sending Rowdy away, Flossie pulled out a small dagger and gave it to him.
She liked knives, and if they were able to attract her eye, they may not necessarily be valuable, but the quality was assuredly high, easy to use only being a prerequisite.
So, even when dismissed, the recipient of the knife, Rowdy, left with a spring in his step and a bright smile.
The night was growing darker.
By the time Flossie Wright finished her call with Olivia Hamilton, it was already past two in the morning.
Gauging that no one would come in at this point, Flossie closed the door, turned off the lights, and jumped on her bed to rest.
However, as she had just spread out her folded blanket, something fell from it and landed on her hand.
She was startled, and under the streetlight outside, she could barely make out the red package on the floor.
A Red Envelope?
With a flash of surprise in her eyes, she picked up the Red Envelope and opened it near the window.
Inside was two hundred dollars and a note.
[Happy New Year.]
She only had to glance at it to know who it was from.
She had once written a review with Becca Reyes, so naturally, she was familiar with Becca’s handwriting.
She looked at the Red Envelope in her hand, furrowed her brows slightly, and then put the money and note back in the envelope.
However, as soon as she put it away, the door was pushed open.
The room was still dark, and as Flossie Wright looked towards the sound, her eyes descended upon the figure that walked in.
The yard outside was illuminated by a street light, creating a faint glow inside the room, allowing her to roughly make out who it was.
The one who entered was Becca Reyes, and she brought the cold from the rain, dampening the room. She was about to turn on the light, but seemed to realize something, looking straight at Flossie’s bed.
Their eyes met.
The stream of light coming from the window fell directly on Flossie’s bed. In the dimly lit room, she and the object in her hand were clearly discernable.
The motion to turn on the light paused, and Becca’s eyes dimmed. Immediately, she turned and walked straight towards her bed.
As usual, she jumped straight onto her bed— Becca didn’t even bother taking off her clothes before pulling her blanket over her.
She lay with her back to Flossie Wright, without moving, not even willing to take an additional look at her.
