Flossie Wright’s voice returned with two indifferent words.
With a hint of suspicion, Bonnie Reyes’s gaze always drifted towards Flossie.
In Bonnie’s mind, Flossie had dared to stand up to Hutchinson, the Instructor, and following the oppressive competition with Cassie Ferguson, she always subconsciously felt that Flossie held the upper hand.
Seeing that Cassie hadn’t returned only made Bonnie anxious, subconsciously feeling that Cassie had been "bullied" by Flossie again.
"Only three fish?"
After scrutinizing Flossie carefully, Bonnie’s eyes finally rested on the fish in Flossie’s hands.
Counting, she still could manage.
There were four of them here.
Flossie found that torn piece of cloth and placed the three prepared fish on it.
Ignoring Bonnie’s questioning, Flossie stood up and looked around, her gaze quickly landing on a patch of verdant bamboo not far away.
Then she walked over.
Bonnie, worried about Cassie, clearly had no intention of letting her go.
Standing up, Bonnie followed Flossie closely.
"Is Cassie catching... that one fish?"
Bonnie weighed her words, somewhat hesitantly asking Flossie.
After all, she was quite afraid of Flossie.
However, the act of Flossie leaving Cassie behind and returning alone certainly irked her.
She caught three fish all at once so swiftly; even if she were to help Cassie catch one, that wouldn’t have been too much of an ask, would it?
Thinking this way, the dissatisfaction Bonnie felt towards Flossie directly plunged into another negative emotion.
Flossie’s pace paused slightly.
"Come here."
With a cool glance, Flossie narrowed her eyes, her languid voice carrying an irresistible authority.
Staring blankly at Flossie for a moment, Bonnie felt fear, but after pondering for a moment, she honestly stepped forward and stood beside Flossie.
"Are you cooperating with me, or depending on me?"
Playing with the military knife in her hand, Flossie tilted her head, her cold gaze fixed upon Bonnie’s eyes.
Bonnie shivered instantly.
"Cooperation... I guess."
Bonnie’s voice was low as she replied.
She had intended to leverage Flossie’s "thick legs" as a handle, but upon reflection, realizing that Cassie would never accept the notion of "dependency," she was forced to choose the former.
"What has she done to help me?" Flossie asked again.
After thinking, Bonnie shook her head.
The gaze growing colder, Flossie’s manipulation of the military knife paused slightly as she continued, "Coming along, was it her own choice?"
On this point, Bonnie had no way to refute.
"She wants to catch her own fish, and I am reluctant to help her, which hasn’t taken anything away from you. As for whether or not to wait for her..." Flossie’s lips curled coldly, "Isn’t that my freedom?"
Stuck for a reply, Bonnie could only nod honestly.
"And your behavior?" Flossie asked leisurely.
"I’m sorry."
Bonnie apologized with a sense of grievance, her head inevitably bowing lower.
In front of Flossie Wright, it seemed like she couldn’t say anything right.
Although—
She felt that she hadn’t done anything wrong.
Helping each other was the right thing to do, wasn’t it?
Helping catch another fish wasn’t such a big deal.
Leaving a companion behind and returning alone, how could there still be any justifiable argument?
