But then again, just because Mariana Buck doesn’t need to worry, doesn’t mean others don’t have to.
Sandy Cruz remembered that there was a female soldier, named Becca Reyes, who followed closely beside Flossie Wright, whose performance was always mediocre, rarely excelling in any area.
Was Flossie Wright’s behavior for her sake?
To help out as much as possible, at the very least, to get her through this wilderness survival course?
That’s what Sandy Cruz speculated.
But he soon felt that such an approach by Flossie Wright was somewhat too unrealistic.
What if she doesn’t follow this road?
This jungle is so vast, with hundreds of people milling around, you can’t necessarily bump into anyone.
He had not realized that there was a certain naivety in Flossie Wright’s character.
It wasn’t until much, much later that Sandy Cruz realized Flossie Wright’s character wasn’t naive, but rather a gentleness that came from deep within her bones.
She habitually left people with a way out.
Maybe, because of your actions, others may survive.
And for you, it’s just a matter of lending a hand.
The sound of rain remained steady.
Flossie Wright, who had gone to bed, made no noise at all.
Sandy Cruz didn’t look at her, assuming she had fallen asleep.
He began to sort out the remaining meat.
Glancing at the wild boar meat all piled on the banana leaves, Sandy Cruz thought about it and decided to follow Flossie Wright’s advice, putting the wild boar meat beside the fire to smoke it.
"Hey——"
In the silence of the night, someone suddenly spoke up.
Sandy Cruz felt a chill run down his spine, and it was only after he collected himself that he realized the speaker was Flossie Wright.
He lifted his cool eyes and frowned as he looked over.
Lying on that "bed," Flossie Wright had her eyes open, motionless, much like a corpse, giving off an indescribably eerie vibe.
Sandy Cruz suppressed the urge to roll his eyes.
"I’m very curious."
After a moment, Flossie Wright spoke slowly.
With a slight stiffness in his expression, Sandy Cruz responded directly, "Don’t be curious."
The glint in her eyes flickered, and Flossie Wright, amused, propped herself up on her elbow, leaned to one side to look at him, a smile in her eyes, "You know?"
"I don’t know."
Sandy Cruz spoke in a cool and indifferent tone.
"You know."
Narrowing her long, slender eyes slightly, Flossie Wright had a playful light dancing in them.
Sandy Cruz simply ignored her.
"Handsome," Flossie Wright’s voice grew richer with laughter.
"..." No response.
"Sandy Handsome?" Raising an eyebrow, Flossie Wright called out teasingly.
A crisp, single word.
Flossie Wright raised her hand, and a stone flew from between her fingers, heading straight for the back of Sandy Cruz’s head.
Frowning, Sandy Cruz lifted his right hand slightly and caught the stone in his palm.
Having had enough.
Sandy Cruz turned his body, a terrifying murderous intent flaring in his eyes.
But then——
He was met with a pair of eyes that seemed to laugh without laughing.
Flossie Wright lay on her side on the "bed," her dark, sparkling eyes reflecting the flickering firelight, a captivating brightness twinkling within them.
Very bright.
Like the stars in the night sky, dazzling to the extreme.
As if there was a kind of magic in them.
Her gaze held a light smile, her expression serene as she looked down at him, as unconcerned as the drifting clouds and gentle breeze.
It was enough to keep one from losing their temper.
Sandy Cruz looked away.
He sat back down.
Flossie Wright simply sat up, her long legs dangling down, swaying gently.
A long while passed.

The night grew deeper.
Only the fine drizzle persisted.
Finally, Sandy Cruz spoke indifferently, "She and I..."
