All unbeknownst to them, there were four eyes recording every single one of their actions.
Flossie Wright lived up to everyone’s expectation, trailing behind from the very start. Despite the soldiers’ disappointment, she showed no ambition to compete, leisurely placing herself amongst the last group without any hurry.
Even though her stamina had improved, carrying an extra twenty kilograms for a ten-kilometer run was still too much for her at this point. Naturally, she couldn’t compete with the others. The fact that she was amongst the slowest, yet not too far behind, was actually considerate of her. It saved the other female soldiers the worry that she would weigh them down to the point where they couldn’t run anymore.
"Hey, hello there."
About two kilometers into the run, a male soldier suddenly ran up to Flossie. The abrupt greeting nearly startled Janice Wood, who was running alongside her.
As if she hadn’t heard a word, Flossie kept her eyes steadily forward, her strides not pausing in the slightest.
The soldier running beside her was at ease. His aura was steadily calm even after two kilometers, and he didn’t show any discomfort when Flossie ignored him. He glanced over at Janice, meeting her curious gaze with an innocent smile. Janice was taken aback, quickly averting her gaze awkwardly.
"You’re Flossie Wright, aren’t you? I have something I want to discuss with you," the male soldier persisted, his tone light and cheerful.
The dawn light began to break, gradually brightening the surroundings. The hazy morning rays fell on Flossie, casting a chill on her serene face.
Receiving her response, the male soldier asked in a seemingly concerned tone, "It must be tiring, running like this, isn’t it?"
Flossie had no interest in responding to such painfully obvious small talk.
"If you have something to say, then say it," Janice Wood, unable to bear it any longer, bluntly suggested.
"Heh-heh." The male soldier tousled his hair but quickly got to the point. "See, you remember Jamson Eldeanor, the one you effortlessly defeated before? He’s also a bit of a weak link in our group. So, we were thinking, could you, by chance, finish the race with him?"
The male soldier’s words were somewhat tactful, but the meaning was pretty clear.
They seemed to consider Flossie the weakest link in the female soldiers and, since they also had one, why not make a deal to avoid punishment on both sides?
Initially, Janice Wood breathed a sigh of relief for Flossie. If the male soldiers were willing to compromise and settle for a draw, the pressure on Flossie would be significantly reduced.
But then, she suddenly had an uneasy feeling...

Would Rowdy Brightwill really let them "win-win"?
While Janice was thinking, Flossie glanced at the heavily-breathing Jamson trailing behind and agreed to the male soldier’s request without hesitation.
"Great, it’s settled then!" With her agreement, the male soldier nodded happily. He turned slightly and flashed Jamson a cheerful smile, secretly making a "V" sign when no one was looking.
Jamson watched him for a few moments before finally managing to nod in acknowledgement.
"Keep it up!" The male soldier picked up his pace, then turned around and ran backward, gesturing encouragement to both Flossie and Jamson. He quickly turned back around to rejoin the group ahead.
"Flossie," rushing to keep pace, Janice kept a close eye on Jamson at the rear. She leaned over and whispered, "Aren’t you worried they’re just trying to put you off guard?"
Flossie didn’t answer, in her deep, ink-black eyes, which reflected the sunlight of the early morning like polished glass, a trace of faint amusement flashed inadvertently.
