Glenn Hutchinson was somewhat amused and resigned to her antics, making no attempt to pry her off.
Under normal circumstances, Flossie Wright would have preferred to leisurely swim to the shore rather than be dragged by Glenn Hutchinson with a sense of desperation. But there are always special circumstances. Annoyed, she wanted to give Glenn Hutchinson a hard time. Since she really couldn’t swim any further and it wouldn’t burden him to pull one or two people along, she decided to simply treat it as a chance to rest.
Although the actual time from jumping off the cliff to resurfacing was just several minutes, the turbulent undercurrents beneath the cliff were not to be ignored. Even though they weren’t swept too far away, it still took Glenn Hutchinson a good twenty minutes to finally swim ashore with Flossie. By then, the beach was filled with the panicked shouts of the recruits calling out "Flossie" and "Captain Hutchinson". They were nearly tearing their hearts out, with many of them even taking the initiative to search in the sea.
But, in the vast sea, no one knew the precise direction.
Knowing that every second counted in a life or death situation, these recruits, no matter how much they may dislike Flossie in the past, wouldn’t fuss over it now. They could wait until Flossie was safe before picking fights again.
The first to see Glenn Hutchinson carrying Flossie onto the shallow beach were Janice Wood and Becca Reyes, who were frantically searching the sea. Both came close to swimming into the deep sea and just turned back when they saw Glenn. Not thinking twice, they called out and swam towards them as fast as they could.
With the splashing noise of pushing the water aside forcefully, waves were made.
Hearing their voices, the others gradually noticed the two figures, unwittingly breathing a sigh of relief. However, seeing Flossie being held by Glenn, their hearts couldn’t help but be suspended in uncertainty.
What if... she wasn’t alive?
Hearing the calls of "Flossie" getting closer, nearly half-asleep Flossie stirred from her slumber. Blinking through bleary eyes, she saw Janice and Becca swiftly rushing toward her and furrowed her brows in confusion.
"What are you doing?"
Flossie, half asleep, squinted at the two clear figures. She managed to keep her eyes open just enough to toss out a question.
Seeing that she was alright, Janice stood aside and smiled foolishly, her face relaxed and beaming.
Seeing that Flossie was fine was enough to release her from the suffocating concern she felt before.
But Becca wasn’t as forgiving. She had been worried sick, while Flossie was casually paired up with Glenn, expressing bafflement at their concerned expressions. Her anger surged, and without hesitation, she flicked Flossie’s forehead forcefully.
Flossie couldn’t dodge in time, still sluggish and with Glenn making no move to protect her, she winced as the impact landed.
Rolling her eyes in annoyance, Flossie thought to herself.
They always pull this move...
How annoying!
At that moment, the kind-hearted Janice who sided with Flossie, stepped forward blocking Becca, and earnestly said, "Becca, let Flossie rest for a while, she’s probably exhausted."
Janice’s sincere words choked Becca up and rendered her speechless.
What, just one flick and Flossie would drop dead?
They always sided with Flossie!
Flossie then cocked her head slightly, calling Becca’s name with a softness that would melt hearts. But beneath the gentleness, there was an undeniable tease in her eyes.
