However, Flossie Wright seemed like she noticed nothing, pulling back her indifferent gaze.
She walked straight into the room.
In fact, she didn’t need to do anything at all.
Her presence alone was a powerful tranquilizer.
Under the pressure of her, no one dared to act rashly in front of her, even if it was a quarrel that had nothing to do with her.
Yvonne Watson felt aggrieved and furious, but when she saw Flossie Wright enter, she eventually stopped crying, put on her clothes and shoes, and stormed out of the room.
Neal Thompson quickly followed suit, leaving nervously.
"Medicine."
Flossie Wright looked through a cabinet and finally found a box of cold medicine, which she tossed onto Becca Reyes’s bed.
Becca Reyes instinctively caught it.
Since she woke up that morning, Becca Reyes had been feeling groggy. After getting busy, she came back and slept, but was woken up by Yvonne Watson and Neal Thompson’s quarrel. Now her head was throbbing with pain.
So, although she initially wanted to throw the cold medicine back, her hand slightly tightened around the box, and she eventually decided to keep it.
She managed to hoarsely utter a single syllable.
Flossie Wright glanced at her, closed the cabinet door, and after filling a cup with hot water from Becca Reyes’s thermos, she handed it to her.
Her mind was fuzzy, but still alert.
Watching Flossie Wright’s actions, Becca Reyes pressed her lips together and forced a bitter smile.
She didn’t know what was wrong with her. She wasn’t daring enough to ask what had happened.
She didn’t want to hold onto the slightest hope to avoid further disappointment, and she didn’t want to know the truth because she probably couldn’t accept it.
Yet pretending that she didn’t see anything was also beyond her ability.
Flossie Wright handed the water to the bedside.
Looking at Flossie Wright’s calm and indifferent face, Becca Reyes sighed softly to herself, then accepted the warm cup of water.
Standing beside the bed, Flossie Wright watched Becca Reyes carelessly take the medicine, her eyebrows slightly furrowed.
After Becca Reyes finished drinking the water, Flossie collected the cup, but she didn’t leave right away.
"Knock knock."
Before Flossie could say anything, a knock sounded.
The door was open, the knock was merely a courtesy.
Both Flossie and Becca Reyes looked up, surprise flickering in their eyes.
Standing at the door was Calvin Ramos.
Dressed in a navy uniform, he stood tall and straight, his eyes clean and gentle and a polite and charming smile on his face.
Resembling a gentle breeze, he was unmistakably dignified and elegant.
A stark contrast to his image from last night.
Flossie’s eyebrows furrowed deeply.
"I’m looking for Flossie Wright."
His voice was warm and pleasant, as gentle as the passing wind, as sweet as always.
But Becca Reyes felt a chill in her heart.
"I’m busy."
Flossie put the cup on the table and glanced at him coldly— her look clearly warning him off.
Glancing at the figure at the door, Becca Reyes’s heart ached, her hand tightened on the blanket, and she quickly lay back on the pillow.
The blanket tightly wrapped around her, not revealing any gap.
Calvin Ramos stood unmoving, with a dedicated and serious gaze, showing no signs of leaving.
Frustrated, Flossie walked towards the door, but paused when she was about two steps away from Calvin Ramos and reached for the door frame.
Just as Flossie was about to close the door, a hand grabbed her wrist.
