"Hold on, I’m coming too!"
The sudden intrusion, fraught with undeniable determination, prompted Janice Wood to raise her eyebrows in surprise.
It was Winsley Scott.
Water splashed into his eyes, making them glisten like obsidian. He was staring at her with sterling seriousness, her reflection somewhat blurred in his pupils, yet the warmth conveyed from his gaze was nevertheless intensified.
Under the dim light, he appeared as he always did: genial, persistent, and serious. Just as he always looked at her, albeit laced with a hint of restraint.
Yet in that instant, in the deepest parts of Janice’s heart, she perceived him to surpass his former image.
She found him to be truly impressive and admirable.
Simultaneously arrived a familiar, serene voice.
Janice cast a quick glance to the side, instantly spotting Flossie Wright and Rowdy Brightwill who had approached.
Unbeknownst to her, Flossie had already donned a lifejacket and an oxygen tank, and she had brought additional oxygen tanks.
The instant their eyes met, Flossie gave Janice a nod of acknowledgment. At the same time, Rowdy Brightwill waved at her, declaring, "Count me in too!"
Observing Janice being entangled with that woman, they had initially assumed some incident had occurred. It was only after observing the entire situation and witnessing Janice’s determination, did they decide to join her without hesitation.
Apart from Flossie, all three of them had already sailed this sea once before. Although embarking on such voyage again posed a certain degree of difficulty, upon facing this dire situation, how could they stand by and remain detached?
Janice nodded firmly at them. Yet, the moment she turned around, a dam burst open within her, and tears instantaneously cascaded down her face.
She had never wished to involve others. Even if she was to perish in this vast ocean, she was ready and willing to do so. She had never intended to be a burden to any of them.
Yet in this circumstance, they were so resolutely committed to helping that she didn’t even possess the chance to reject their assistance.
Without uttering another word, the group plunged directly into the water. Battling against the furious waves, they swam toward the capsized boat with the utmost speed.
The tempestuous waves far out at sea were tumultuous. With the water fluctuating erratically and waves roaring like wild beasts, the rescue mission struggled against the odds, even the boat was unable to maneuver, let alone any chance for helicopters to maintain flight.
Therefore, they had no other choice but to rely on their own strength to row ahead.
The only relief was that the location of the capsized boat wasn’t too far away. After merely ten minutes of navigation underwater, they found the submarine, already capsized.
After enduring the relentless battering of the waves and the tornado, the vessel had snapped in the middle. At this moment, the hull had fractured and fractured, and it continued sinking little by little.
"What are you all doing here?!"
The moment Flossie and the others resurfaced, the second batch of rescue workers had just arrived. The crew members gasped in shock at the sight of these three unexpected arrivals, the astonishment even visible through their diving masks.
They had all made the risky journey once, and Flossie Wright was only a greenhorn in the cooking class. What on earth were they doing here, courting danger?!
Were they aware of the life-threatening risks involved?!
Leading the second rescue team was none other than Nathan Foster. His incomprehension quickly translated into fury. He yearned to drag them immediately back onto the shore.
Were they so heedless of their own lives?!
But he dreaded their potential demise!
Nathan Foster seethed with anger. Gnashing his teeth, he bellowed, "Return at once, or I shall report this to the Captain!"
He refused to believe that Captain Bard would endorse another voyage for them. Given the Captain’s disposition, the lives of his soldiers invariably took precedence, regardless of how pressing the circumstances might be.
