Flossie Wright hesitated briefly, then turned to Glenn Hutchinson, who was standing beside her, before suggesting with a teasing tone that it was now his turn to "face the music."
Compared to the situation the night before, Regan Wright hadn’t assumed such a commanding stature this time. After all, his previous attempt to use violence against Flossie had failed miserably and he certainly didn’t want to risk further unpleasantness.
Regan had considered cutting off Flossie’s living expenses, but quickly realized the plan was futile. Even if he stopped providing, their mother would still chip in for Flossie. Plus, Flossie didn’t really have many places to spend money within the Forces.
Flossie was already of age. Regan’s options to discipline her were now limited and none of the options really worked effectively.
What could he do?

Flossie wouldn’t be able to come home often for the next couple of years. He couldn’t possibly exile Flossie from the Wright Family just for this trivial reason, could he?
"Who is he?"
Before Glenn Hutchinson could volunteer to "face the music", Regan Wright, purposefully diverting his anger away from Flossie, turned his attention to Glenn, asking in a neutral tone.
"Glenn Hutchinson."
Bringing Flossie closer, Glenn introduced himself calmly without any superfluous formalities.
Just a simple introduction was enough for Regan to understand Glenn’s identity. He had guessed who Glenn might be earlier, so he just breathed a sigh of relief upon confirmation. He didn’t have any objections to Glenn’s attitude.
Regan was already taken aback when Flossie, right after being broken off by Rowdy Brightwill, started dating a man with a child. Now that she had driven away all her potential suitors and brought home an unfamiliar man...
Regan might really need to reassess his daughter’s fickleness.
As for Glenn Hutchinson, Regan was aware of his military background. Seemingly holding an impressive position within the Forces, the old man from the Wright Family had often praised the Hutchinson Family for producing such an outstanding offspring. In contrast, none of the younger generation in the Wright Family had joined the military, which was seen as a disgrace to the Wright Family.
Therefore, a few months before, the old man of the Wright Family immediately showed his support when he found out that Flossie was going to join the Forces. He glared at Regan just once and Regan didn’t dare to oppose. He had to let Flossie go.
In terms of character, Glenn was reticent, inscrutable, cold, and powerful, the very image that Regan held for a mysterious soldier. He didn’t really care how Glenn treated him.
"You two are...?"
Dragging out his words, Regan tested the waters, waiting for their answer.
Flossie was just about to consider her response when she heard Glenn confidently say, "We’re dating."
Caught off-guard, Flossie turned her gaze thinly veiled with threats towards Glenn.
However, Glenn completely ignored her threatening gaze.
"This time it’s just for fun too?"
Regan recalled Flossie’s previous "just for fun" relationship. His voice couldn’t help dropping coldly. He scrutinized the two, finding something off.
Logically speaking, given Flossie’s admiration for Rowdy Brightwill, it would have been impossible for her to accept the broken engagement in a short period. Yet now, she appeared to be with Glenn Hutchinson right after the breakup. According to Merry Otiz’s description, they were even in a "loving" relationship.
If their feelings had developed during Flossie’s time in the Forces, it would have been easier to digest. But Flossie’s casual dismissal of their relationship as "just for fun" made Regan even more confused. It didn’t seem like she was investing genuine feelings, so he didn’t take Glenn’s presence seriously.
But with Glenn already at his house...
What kind of relationship did they actually have?! It was a mess!
Faced with Regan’s question, Glenn deliberated a moment before piecing together a plausible backstory. He glanced at Flossie, then lightly raised an eyebrow, "Last time, she was throwing a tantrum."
As far as Glenn was concerned, fabricating stories was nothing new. As long as he wanted to, even the most outlandish stories could be spoken with utmost sincerity. Thus, a lie that was so different from the truth was absolutely believable when coming from him. Coupled with Flossie’s previous behavior, Glenn successfully painted her as a petulant girl in love.
However, as soon as he finished speaking, Flossie’s threat in her eyes intensified. Since she was nearly the same height as Glenn in her high heels, Flossie rested her hand on his shoulder. The grip she held on him was rather intense. Her gaze, sharp as a knife, threatened to dismember Glenn at any moment.
Sensing something amiss between the two, Regan responded dubiously. Inadvertently, Flossie’s "plaything" of bringing a boyfriend home and messing up the whole matchmaking thing fell into Regan’s "no need for further investigation" category.
Seeing as they were already dating, Regan surmised that Flossie agreeing to the previous arranged dates was probably out of spite towards Glenn. Though he couldn’t quite grasp these young people’s affairs, the thought of Glenn causing a scene out of jealousy didn’t seem impossible.
Since it was Glenn’s first visit to their home, it wouldn’t be appropriate for Regan to discipline Flossie in front of Glenn.
However, as Regan was about to put the matter aside, Merry Otiz, who had been eavesdropping upstairs, walked down with a look of astonishment and said, "Flossie, I heard you invited all your suitors to meet at once?"
All of a sudden, Regan’s expression stiffened.
Flossie frowned slightly, watching Merry casually saunter down the stairs. Observing the surprise on her slightly weathered face, Flossie couldn’t help but feel bored.
She could understand the mindset of women like Merry, but she found it difficult to empathize with them. She often felt these women made mountains out of molehills, creating drama over trivial matters, ultimately wasting time.
"I did. Is that a problem?"
Before Merry could get close, Glenn raised his eyes lazily. His expression, devoid of the slightest emotion, was quite intimidating. Just one look from his chilling eyes, coupled with a suffocating pressure, made Merry freeze on the spot, unable to move.
Even the most audacious soldiers wouldn’t dare to act out under Glenn’s command, let alone Merry, a pampered woman. A single gaze from Glenn was enough to render her speechless.
"If you have an issue, discuss it with him. If not," Flossie said in a leisurely manner, shifting her gaze to Glenn. The hand on his shoulder moved slightly downwards before firmly gripping it. An icy threat flickering in the corner of her eyes, "We have some personal matters to settle."
After that, before anyone could react, Flossie "affectionately" pulled Glenn up to the stairs.
