"Oh, okay." Without any hesitation and having thought things through, Stuart Weston nodded quickly, turning naturally to Becca Reyes, "I’ll go first, follow closely."
Staring intently at the cliff below and the surging river, Becca Reyes responded solemnly, her mind no longer up for banter with Stuart.
She suddenly recalled that when she first arrived at the Marine Corps, there was a time when Glenn Hutchinson took them to "observe" amphibious combat troop training sessions, where similar horizontal crossing training like this was conducted with a long and high rope. Many soldiers abandoned their safety measures and scaled the rope that was tethering their lives with their bare hands.
The experience was breathtaking because at that time, Becca thought she could never do such a thing.
Yet, now she did not want to retreat; she had no option but to keep moving forward.
Indeed, this was a challenge for her.
However, if she wanted to truly stand on the grounds of the Marine Corps, she had to do everything that real Marines can do to earn her place.
"Get up, be careful."
The voice was slightly cold, joined by the cool wind from the mountaintop. When it reached her ears, it was actually quite soothing.

Only Flossie Wright remained calm all along.
They had all undergone professional training. After overcoming the basic fear, they were more adept at their tasks. Swiftly, they bent down onto the rope. They maintained balance by pressing one foot horizontally and the other dangling down. The two kept a distance of about thirty meters from each other, aiming to move at a constant speed.
These two silhouettes swayed on the unstable rope, looking as if they could fall at any moment, making the bystanders feel anxious.
Becca’s physical strength was weaker to begin with. She had only climbed a third of the way when her arms began to ache, and she used up much of her strength. This distance had already exceeded their usual practice. If not for Becca biting her teeth and persisting, she may have fallen limp and dropped down.
Flossie Wright and Calvin Ramos stood on the edge. However, the two were not in sync, each focused on different places.
Calvin closely monitored Stuart and Becca. This thrilling scene would easily lead to a racing heartbeat, after all, human life is paramount. Calvin could not spare them a thought. On the other hand, Flossie seemed more laid-back since the two on the rope relied on their own abilities. She couldn’t contribute much just by standing, so she chose to keep an eye on the enemy’s movements instead.
Given the terrain, their surroundings were useful for hiding from the enemy, with the lush jungle perfectly obscuring their views. They had lost the enemy for a significant amount of time. They should be able to reach the cliff top before the enemy finds them, barring any unexpected circumstances.
"Your strength..."
It wasn’t until Stuart and Becca had covered three-fourths of the distance that Calvin shifted his focus, tentatively asking about Flossie’s condition.
She glanced at him, briefly stating, "Just enough."
Earlier, they had run for a long time and used up a large part of their energy. However, she had been following Glenn’s training plan, which significantly boosted her physical capacity. She estimated that her condition was not too far from Becca’s, so there shouldn’t be too much of a problem.
Calvin wasn’t a man of few words, but in the face of the cold Flossie, he could not find another topic to discuss. He looked at Flossie for a moment, and seeing that she did not even give him an extra glance, he withdrew his gaze after some consideration.
