A somewhat tired Flossie Wright stepped through the door and greeted her before preparing to change shoes. But as soon as she found her shoes, Olivia Hamilton suddenly pounced on her, her eyes filled with hot tears as she hugged her tightly.
"Flossie... you’re OK... Thank God..."
Olivia’s excited tone was intertwined with a slight tremble and a sob. She hugged Flossie Wright tightly, without the awkwardness and politeness of their previous greeting, but the strong concern was evident through her every move.
Ever since the Wright Family had an incident, she wanted to contact Flossie immediately, but after calling all day, all she received was a turned-off phone. She wanted to ask Rowdy Brightwill about the situation, although his response was "Flossie Wright is fine," Olivia, who had watched Brightwill grow up, detected something unusual in his tone.
If even he isn’t sure, how can everything be fine?
Thoughts flooded Olivia’s mind, causing her to stay home feeling anxious all afternoon. Even Dian Deacon left work early to accompany her.
They had no way to help, and all they could do was worry.
Flossie was taken aback by Olivia’s sudden outburst. She stiffened slightly, and after a while, gradually eased. She glanced at Olivia, whose eyes were blurred with tears, looking not like the gentle Olivia in her memory. But the joy and relief on Olivia’s face was easier for Flossie to remember than anything else.
"I’m fine," Flossie patted her on the back, her usually cold voice softened slightly, "I’m just here to eat and drink for free again."
Olivia was taken aback, she stared at Flossie in surprise, and finally laughed at her words.
"Have you eaten? What would you like to eat, something light or a bit heavier? The ingredients in the kitchen are not so fresh, you can tell me what you want to eat, and I can go to the Supermarket to buy fresh ones... "
After letting go of Flossie, Olivia, whose heart had settled, instantly went into busy mode. She kept walking around the living room, muttering to herself, causing both Dian Deacon, who had hurried over, and Flossie who was leaning against the entrance to laugh and cry at the same time.
Just as Olivia was really about to go out and buy food ingredients, Flossie extended her arm and pulled her back, "just make some porridge."
Although she had already eaten some late-night snacks, those weren’t very nutritious. It’s good to eat something light after coming back.
Anyway, Olivia won’t calm down for a while.
The atmosphere at Olivia’s place was completely different from Regan Wright’s. It was light and harmonious. While Olivia went to the kitchen to make porridge, Dian Deacon brought some fruits to the coffee table and then sat down to chat with Flossie about all the little trivia. Although it was nothing more than asking about her situation in the Forces and the situation at the Wright Family, it felt close to life.
"Flossie, I heard you’re dating the Hutchinson Family’s man?"
After chatting for a while, Olivia, who was waiting for the porridge to cook, came over—her laughter was sweet and natural and her eyes twinkled with a hint of gossip.
She didn’t really agree with the Wright Family trying to set Flossie up. She couldn’t trust the man Merry Otiz had found. Since Flossie doesn’t like to make phone calls and wouldn’t talk about these topics with her, Olivia used the connections she had left in the Wright Family to ask a few people to find out. So, she had a pretty good idea of Flossie’s situation.
"We broke up."
Flossie took a sip of her tea, her response was extremely fluent, as if everything had just developed naturally.
Olivia opened her eyes in surprise, "But weren’t you still with him today..."
"We just broke up."
Replying in a faint tone, Flossie slowly put down the teacup.
Olivia quickly shifted her gaze to Flossie’s slightly swollen lips, instantly realizing something, and playfully asked, "Did he bring you back?"
After a pause, Flossie found it unnecessary to hide it and simply nodded, "Yeah."
So, Olivia naturally ignored Flossie’s previous "we broke up" and secretly judged their relationship, "Why didn’t you invite him in?"
Flossie was somewhat baffled.
Didn’t she say they broke up? Why should she invite him in to be beaten up by a crowd?
"Ah, nevermind," Olivia blinked understandingly, sat down again but quickly got up delightfully, "I’m going to make you a couple more small dishes."
Flossie: "..."
"Cough," Dian, who was used to Olivia’s antics, coughed lightly, then patiently explained to Flossie, "Don’t mind her. She’s just too happy you’re here. She’s always like this, can’t control herself when she’s happy."
Even though he was explaining for Olivia, Dian looked tender, a natural smile appeared on his face, carrying a taste of happiness.
Seeing all this, Flossie nodded in understanding and let Olivia have her way.
However, before Olivia could finish preparing all the dishes, Flossie’s phone suddenly rang.
It was Rowdy Brightwill.
He got to know that Flossie was here through Glenn Hutchinson.
"What happened?"
Receiving the phone from Dian, Flossie walked towards the floor-to-ceiling window, asking with some doubt.
"Flossie," Rowdy Brightwill’s voice was somewhat hurried, and it was only after a moment of pause to stabilize his emotions, did he continue, "Janice Wood committed suicide."
