To be honest, Flossie Wright did not cherish every life, but she was not heartless either.
She knew what to do and what not to do, and how to avoid arousing suspicions from others in certain situations.
She had ample experience, so much so that her life in the Forces was not filled with many hardships.
On her way to the Dormitory, Flossie Wright took a detour to the canteen and, after getting a few Steamed Buns for Belinda Nichols, returned with her.
Soon after they entered, the rain poured down heavily, and thunder roared as if the sky itself was bellowing with rage.
Around four o’clock.
"I need to go out for a bit. You take a shower and get some good sleep,"
Flossie Wright, standing on the balcony and looking up at the sky, instructed Belinda Nichols.
Belinda Nichols gave her a glance, "Where are you going?"
"Just for a stroll."
Flossie Wright casually replied, grabbed a folding umbrella, and left.
The wind was too strong; when she closed the door, it slammed shut with a loud "bang."
And then, in the midst of the thunder and rain, her footsteps gradually faded away.
Staring at the door for a long while, Belinda Nichols’s eyes cooled slightly before she withdrew her gaze.
Flossie Wright went to find Rowdy Brightwill.
As she descended the stairs, Flossie Wright had called Rowdy Brightwill, and then proceeded straight to the bottom of his Dormitory building.
And Rowdy Brightwill, having taken her call, had already been waiting down there.
Seeing her from afar, Rowdy Brightwill waved to her with his umbrella, under the black canopy only his hand could be seen waving.
Flossie Wright walked over to him.
It was not until she stood before him that Flossie Wright stopped, her gaze fixed on Rowdy Brightwill before her, taking in his handsome, slightly smiling face which was nothing like the one in the photos; his cheerful expression and beaming smile seemed completely unrelated.
"You were looking for me?"
Rowdy Brightwill slightly curved his eyes, lowering his gaze at Flossie Wright.
Braving the storm, Flossie Wright, even with her umbrella, was thoroughly soaked.
Not having seen her for several days, her hair had been cut much shorter. The fine, rain-soaked strands of hair were now wet and draped down smoothly; some fell on her clear forehead, while her slender eyes seemed to have been invaded by the cold wind, touched by hints of chill.
"No need to smile anymore."
Looking up at him, Flossie Wright spoke softly, her tone carrying a touch of helplessness.
Instantly, Rowdy Brightwill’s smile stiffened on his face, and he gradually withdrew the forced smile.
"It’s been tough these past few days."
Flossie Wright tilted her head and extended the bag in her hand towards Rowdy Brightwill, the large raindrops instantly wetting the back of her hand, her wrist, and sleeve.
"What’s this?"
Taking the bag, Rowdy Brightwill asked in confusion.
"Food, your Auntie Chai sent it," Flossie Wright added indifferently.
Rowdy Brightwill blinked.
Auntie Chai?
"Your phone was off, your mom called me. She said for you to call home more often."
Rowdy Brightwill was quite surprised.
It had always been him taking calls from Flossie’s parents; he didn’t expect that now it was Flossie Wright taking calls for him.
But that was fine.
After his broken engagement last time, he had offended both the Wright Family and the Brightwill Family. Although the situation had improved quite a bit due to Flossie Wright’s acceptance, there was still an underlying tension.
His parents must have been unable to reach him and grew anxious to know how he was doing, which was why they called Flossie Wright.
He was confident that, given the way Flossie Wright conducted herself, she would not only relay the message but also skillfully plead on his behalf. His parents would be much reassured.
