Flossie Wright shrugged.
Sandy Cruz glanced at them, didn’t say much, turned, and left.
At this time, apart from the trainees returning to the dormitory, there were rarely any students coming in and out under the dormitory building. Flossie Wright returned last, and there was no one behind her.
In the blink of an eye, only Flossie Wright and Mariana Buck were left under the entire building.
"What’s up?"
Looking at Mariana Buck, Flossie Wright shrugged.
With one hand in her pants pocket, Mariana Buck shed her usual aloof demeanor and seemed much more relaxed, exuding a casual ease that even made her somewhat approachable.
"I’m leaving." Mariana Buck curved her lips, and the eyes that were always cold and emotionless faded into a hint of warmth.
Flossie Wright responded casually.
"Aren’t you curious about the reason?" Mariana Buck asked blandly.
"You tell me."
Flossie Wright followed her words.
To be honest, Mariana Buck’s sudden departure really surprised Flossie Wright.
If it were when she first arrived here, it might have been understandable.
However, during this period, Mariana Buck had been very calm, quite conscientious in Dylan Murray’s class, as if completely isolated from everything related to Dylan Murray.
It was as though suddenly, at some point, Mariana Buck chose to leave.
Flossie Wright didn’t know whether it was a spontaneous decision or a long-considered one.

One thing was certain: Mariana Buck’s performance during this period of training was entirely normal, with each subject excellently completed, impressively strong.
"I can’t stay here any longer."
With a light smile tugging at her lips, Mariana Buck’s voice was gentle, drifting softly as night settled in her ears.
Flossie Wright’s gaze flickered slightly.
She stood in place looking at her for a few moments as Mariana Buck strolled over to the stairs outside the dormitory building, sitting on the third step.
After two seconds of silence, Flossie Wright lifted the brim of her hat and walked to sit beside her.
Turning her head to look at her, Mariana Buck continued, "This force has Dylan Murray and not me, or it has me and not Dylan Murray. He definitely can’t leave, and he won’t, so I have to leave."
Mariana Buck’s voice was very calm.
Calm to the point of not stirring any ripples.
Flossie Wright asked impassively.
"You’re well aware of what kind of force this is."
Mariana Buck spoke in a gentle, unhurried tone.
All along, Mariana Buck had harbored doubts about Flossie Wright but never denied her strength and knowledge.
Since coming to this force, Flossie Wright should have known what kind of place she was in.
Logically, Flossie Wright understood.
Or rather, Flossie Wright was clearer than anyone.
This is not an ordinary force; it is a unit standing on the edge of fire and blades, always on the brink of real combat, facing choices between life and death.
Brotherhood and love, on the actual battlefield, will still be distinguished.
Brothers and lovers, what would you choose?
That’s the question they need to face.
But with the premise of ensuring all comrades’ safety, this question becomes secondary.
The person you like, whether love or hate, would you go to the battlefield with them, live and die together?
It’s not a question to be answered lightly.
But one thing, once the relationship deteriorates, on the battlefield, you can’t possibly treat them as a comrade.
And a moment’s hesitation could lead to another’s sacrifice.
Mariana Buck couldn’t bear this responsibility, nor was she willing for Dylan Murray or Sandy Cruz to bear this responsibility.
