Glenn Hutchinson, feeling helpless, raised his hand to stop the door from closing.
He didn’t say a word but looked down at Flossie Wright, the determination in his eyes indicating he wouldn’t leave easily.
The two of them exchanged silent glances for a few seconds.
In the end, Flossie made a slight compromise, moving her left hand from the door and extending it toward Glenn, "Give it to me."
After a brief pause, Glenn seriously looked at her, and a moment later, placed the thermal container in Flossie’s hand.
"Bang," the door was shut.
As soon as Flossie received the thermal container, she closed the door with unexpected speed.
Glenn stood at the door, looking at the door that had slammed shut, his expression showed a slight shift, but soon, all emotions were hidden in his deep-set eyes.
Inside the door.
After closing the door, Flossie walked to the table and placed the thermal container on it.
She had no intention of opening it.
Glancing at the thermal container, Flossie slightly frowned, but in the end, she casually picked up a military novel to pass the time.
The military novel was delivered by a young nurse.
Apparently, she was a military enthusiast who also liked reading such novels and had a huge collection at home. Flossie, feeling bored at the hospital, was specially given several novels by the young nurse after she learned of Flossie’s military background.
Of course, novels that appear on the market...
Can’t be compared with reality.
Flossie flipped through a few pages, casually picking out several bugs, and then tossed it aside without further reading.
Might as well play games to relieve some frustration.
Just pass the time.
Pulling a chair over, Flossie leaned against the backrest, her long legs crossed, her right hand resting at her side, motionless, while the book lay on her lap, and she leisurely flipped through it with her left hand.
When she woke up, the sun had already set; the light outside had dimmed significantly. Flossie continued to read until the sky had completely darkened, then tossed the book she had forced herself to read aside.
She was patient enough not to utter a single curse from start to finish.
Upon getting up to leave the room, she noticed the thermal container on the table. Flossie paused slightly and instinctively looked out the window.
The streetlights had unknowingly turned on, the sky was pitch black, with only a few scattered stars visible.
As soon as darkness fell, the once lively hospital seemed to plunge into silence in an instant.
There were barely any pedestrians visible outside the window.
Retracting her gaze, Flossie’s attention finally returned to the neglected dinner.
After some thought, Flossie decided to walk over.
She opened the thermal container.
The quality of the thermal container was excellent, and given the weather, even after nearly an hour, the food inside was still warm.
Two dishes and a soup.
Boiled cabbage, eggplant stir-fried with meat, and tomato egg soup.
The portions were generous and, together with some rice, exceeded Flossie’s usual appetite.
With just a glance, Flossie could tell it was likely prepared by Glenn Hutchinson himself.
Glenn Hutchinson was an excellent cook. Although not quite as good as Sergeant Lin, he was among the best of the military officers in the Forces. Flossie had eaten his cooking several times; she couldn’t discern the taste exactly, but she could recognize the skill of his knife work quite clearly.
Someone like Flossie, who had a special fondness for knives, could easily speak about any kind of knife and discern a person’s knife skills and outcome.
Especially—
One with great technique.
Perhaps due to the craft of the knife technique, these dishes were noticeably better in appearance than those sent by Willie Ash.
