Flossie Wright stared at the two bank cards that were forcibly stuffed into her hands, momentarily stunned.
After a moment, her rigid expression finally shifted a bit.
"Our family isn’t this old-fashioned."
Flossie said earnestly, surprisingly adopting a bit of the serious demeanor of Glenn Hutchinson.
"There has to be someone managing the finances." Glenn spoke even more solemnly.
Flossie thought for a moment, pulled out one card, and asked Glenn, "This one?"
"Salary card."
"And this one?" Flossie wiggled the other card.
"Your pocket money," Glenn replied calmly.
"You still have money?" Flossie raised an eyebrow.
"Our family isn’t this old-fashioned." Glenn mimicked Flossie’s tone, still speaking earnestly.
Flossie was at a loss for words.
When it came to arguing, Flossie really couldn’t beat him.
Flossie could only pinpoint people’s weak spots, but this tactic didn’t work on those close to her.
"Whatever you like."
After some hesitation, Flossie spoke lightly and then heartily accepted the bank cards.
Just in case Flynn Reid needed them.
She didn’t usually need money anyway, and when the time came to use money, even decades of both their salaries wouldn’t be enough.
It was just a formality.
Seeing Flossie agree, Glenn finally felt satisfied.
The next day.
Flossie and Glenn got up early.
Flossie had a bit of a headache.
She had never married before, and among the marriages she knew, no one needed to meet so-called relatives.
In this regard, she was clueless.
All her information came from Glenn.
Basically, whatever Glenn said, that’s what it was.
However, Glenn had just two requests: first, don’t clash with the elders; second, use her strong memory to remember how to address everyone at the dining table and avoid calling them incorrectly.
Flossie could accept the first request, but the thought of having to call strangers ’uncle’ and ’aunt’...
Her face turned as dark as if she had just committed a crime.
Glenn patted her shoulder, full of sympathy.
But what he meant was—
Flossie, it’s your turn now.
That gloating look made her want to punch him twice.
"Don’t worry, you won’t see them much throughout the year," Glenn finally said something sincere, "Once we’re back, we won’t visit relatives."
"Never keep in touch for life?" Flossie glanced at him.
"You’ve got me," Glenn said gently.
Flossie could avoid interacting with his relatives, in other words, these people were irrelevant to Flossie, and in her way of thinking, there was no need to interact with them.
Glenn understood this.
However, he could bridge the gap, at least preventing any conflicts between her and the relatives when they met.
The Hutchinson Family didn’t have those troublesome types, though not everyone was understanding, they were all rational.
Flossie reluctantly withdrew her gaze.
She wasn’t that inconsiderate.
It’s just a meal with future relatives...
She couldn’t act all prim and proper, but at least she had basic manners.
She didn’t care if they liked it or not, she wasn’t about to start pretending.
"Dad, Mom, we should head out."
Flynn Reid, all prepared, peeked out from the doorway and spoke to them eagerly.
Flossie and Glenn exchanged a look.
Flossie’s determination weakened a bit, while Glenn’s enthusiasm grew.
The show...
was about to begin!
"Let’s go." Glenn took Flossie’s hand.
Before leaving, Flossie glanced at herself in the full-length mirror.
There was a slight worry in her eyes.
Her attire didn’t quite look like that of a good daughter-in-law.
Breakfast was made by Glenn, just a bowl of noodles, and the other two meals would be at the Hutchinson Family and the Wright Family, with several relatives coming over at noon to meet Flossie ahead of the wedding, and then the evening at the Wright Family for their New Year’s Eve dinner.
This was just today’s schedule, and tomorrow, being the first day of the new year, required shuttling back and forth between the Wright and Hutchinson Families, ending with both families having dinner together in the evening.
After all this busy hustle, it would finally be the wedding.
Just thinking about it gave Flossie a headache.
If she’d known that filling out a marriage license would lead to such a hassle, she’d have agonized over it for at least half a year.
She blamed her lack of experience and simplicity of thought.
