Since Glenn had already speculated about her being Erina Taylor, the hints followed by the revelation were nothing unexpected for her.
Then, there are some things that Glenn should know.
Glenn remained silent, waiting for her next words.
"I have my reasons to hate it," Flossie Wright said deliberately, "so I cannot become the kind of soldier you envision."
"I want to know the reason." Glenn quickly responded.
With a flicker in her eyes, Flossie replied calmly, "That’s not something you need to know."
Glenn furrowed his brows.
"You alone can’t keep me here," Flossie said softly, her hand moving up to grasp his collar firmly, her gaze calm, "Glenn, you need to convince me of something beyond yourself that’s worth staying for."
Throughout the conversation, Flossie remained calm.
Almost indifferent.
Even though her actions admitted her feelings for Glenn, and she could be embraced by him without resistance.
She distanced herself from all of this.
She wasn’t here for this.
Her feelings for Glenn were secondary. Both she and Glenn had long understood this.
Subconsciously acknowledged long ago.
So, coming to find Glenn was merely an attempt to have him convince her, to give her a reason to willingly be with him.
Mariana Buck’s reason for leaving was having to choose between Dylan Murray and Aaron Doom.
Whereas her choice was between accepting Glenn and Aaron Doom, or completely letting go of both.
This time, she threw all the conflicts onto Glenn, while placing herself outside of the matter.
Thus, she could face it all calmly.
"Do you need a reason?"
Holding her waist tightly, Glenn lightly curled his lips, seemingly confident.
"I don’t know."
Flossie replied indifferently.
Or perhaps, clarity?
She didn’t know.
If she knew what she needed, she wouldn’t have to rely on Glenn.
Some deeply ingrained emotions can’t be easily resolved.
"Alright," Glenn responded, then continued slowly, "Give me a deadline."
"Before the selection ends."
With a slight movement of her brows, Flossie replied truthfully.
The time she asked for from Perry Reed, basically the end of the selection process.
Glenn accepted it.
Facing the tough question Flossie posed, Glenn showed no change in expression, accepting it with ease.
He had anticipated it.
He understood Flossie.
Precisely because he understood, even if Flossie hid it deeply, he could see right through it.
He didn’t need to know the reason from Flossie.
However, he could find a solution.
"I’m finished."
Flossie said calmly, concluding the topic.
Glenn looked at her with a mysterious smile, his thin lips curling up, "I’m not."
"Let’s talk about it," realizing something was amiss, Flossie softened her tone, "Let go first."
"Erina..." Glenn whispered the name, the smile in his eyes growing deeper involuntarily, "You agreed with me?"
"We’ll talk about it later."
Flossie said nonchalantly.
Meanwhile, her gaze slightly lowered, contemplating where to take action if needed.
Of course, clever as Glenn was, he wouldn’t give her the chance.
He reached out to grab the hand she placed on his collar, his arm around her waist tightening slightly, and lowered his head to kiss Flossie’s lips.
