She looked barely older than her daughter, and whenever she thought of Sophie Fitch worrying about the fare, Mrs. Smith’s heart ached.
"Your knife technique is pretty good," Mrs. Smith continued, "Why don’t you go work at my brother’s place tomorrow, cut some vegetables, just work for two hours, and the pay is two hundred bucks, how about it?"
Flossie Wright agreed without hesitation.
Knowing that the offer was made for her benefit, with a special exception to arrange a position for her, Flossie naturally wouldn’t be ungrateful.
This kind gesture, better to accept it.
"Alright then."
Seeing no objections from Flossie, Mrs. Smith nodded immediately.
Her brother’s restaurant had skilled chefs, and even chefs specializing in cutting vegetables, according to Sophie’s suggestion, it seemed like Flossie was to be a waiter.
Being a waiter was not an easy job, but Flossie had good knife skills, she should be able to handle this mission.
This also saved her some time.
Sophie Fitch’s eyes twinkled as she realized her mother’s intentions and started smiling more cheerfully.
The group stayed together, talking and laughing, evaluating TV programs, and time passed quickly.
Just past eleven, with a word from Mr. Smith, everyone dispersed immediately, returning to their rooms to sleep.

Flossie Wright, after taking a bath, went to the bedroom arranged for her by the Smith Family.
The lights were off, and the only light in the bedroom was the one streaming in from outside the window.
It was dim, soft, faintly illuminating the bedroom’s setup.
A cozy arrangement with pink curtains and bedding, a large bear placed by the bed, just like the room Olivia Hamilton had set up for her.
She paused for a moment, her eyes slightly narrowed, without thinking much, she turned over and climbed into bed.
The next day.
Six o’clock, dawn barely breaking.
Sophie Fitch had just gotten up when she saw a silhouette at the entrance.
Carefully approaching, Sophie peered her head out, and with the light from the entrance, she saw Flossie’s figure clearly.
Flossie Wright changed her shoes and walked in.
"You," Sophie stared at her without blinking, then looked at her all sweaty, and asked curiously, "Where did you go?"
Flossie replied lightly.
"What time did you get up?" Sophie cautiously asked.
"Four thirty."
Flossie answered simply.
Then, she headed towards the bathroom.
Sophie stared at her in disbelief.
Four thirty?
Did she hear that right?
Even at their school, people got up at six, at the earliest five thirty; Flossie wasn’t in the Forces, yet she got up so early?
Oh my, four thirty!
Sophie blinked, and soon quietly retreated, glanced at the bathroom, then went to the door of the other two’s bedroom.
She raised her hand to twist the doorknob, then rushed straight in.
"Ahhhhh, get up ahhhh——"
As soon as she entered the room, Sophie raised her voice and shouted.
Soon, Sophie was thrown out.
"Sophie, you’re such a freak!"
"Sis, it’s only six, what are you fussing about."
"Classes start tomorrow, let us sleep a bit longer, OK?"
The two girls stood shoulder to shoulder at the door, exchanging complaints with Sophie one after the other.
"She," Sophie pointed towards the bathroom and whispered to them, "Woke up at four thirty, now look at you guys..."
