"What have you been doing all morning?"
With a severe expression, Drake Easton asked. His eyebrows furrowed tightly and a sudden rise of pressure and intimidation spread quickly throughout the kitchen, creating a tense atmosphere.
In an instant, the kitchen fell into a strangely silent state. The sound of pots and pans echoed rhythmically, all whispers disappeared. The peripheral vision of everyone busily working darted curiously towards Flossie Wright and Drake. Perhaps Drake’s imposing presence was so intimidating that it made them all nervous.
"Reporting to the squad leader!" Flossie responded, her back straight as steel, "Washing vegetables, boiling eggs."
Unexpectedly, a few sparks flickered in the depths of Drake’s eyes. The soldiers he trained, even if they were just helping in the cooking class, should be serious and diligent in their work!
Such a soldier, sloppily without rules, seemed to have no military discipline at all!
"Squad Leader Drake, your soldier here is quite humble," the cooking class’s squad leader noticing the situation deteriorating, quickly stepped in. He gave Flossie a thumbs-up, lying through his teeth, "She came very early today, worked hard and earnestly. No wonder they say you, Drake, are a skilled leader. Our soldiers are far inferior to yours."
"Heh," the soldier who was sweeping added fuel to the fire by saying, "I mean, the kind of soldier reflects the kind of person leading them, right?"
"Drake, I have something to say about your leadership," said the vice squad leader who was preparing to make noodles, "You need to change your training methods. Improving the physical fitness and military capabilities of new soldiers, of course, it’s necessary! But how could you turn them into wooden dolls. Today’s military leadership also emphasizes a humanistic approach! Look at our soldiers in the cooking class, they know when to work and when to rest, ensuring their physical and mental health development..."
The cooking class people are all very cunning. In the past, when soldiers from other squads came to help, they heard a lot of complaints about Drake. Now that Flossie has been caught by Drake while slacking off, they, of course, must unite to keep this intimidating force out of the cooking class.
As expected, almost the whole squad echoed the vice squad leader’s words. They couldn’t help but sing Flossie’s praises. The tense atmosphere in the kitchen was instantly dissolved.
As the upheld protagonist, Flossie stood somewhat awkwardly to the side, listening to their praises and at the same time, keeping an eye on the outside.
At first, Drake was just puzzled about how popular Flossie seemed to be now, even summoning the entire cooking class to speak well of her. However, as he listened more, he realized that something was off. It seemed that these people were intentionally paying him a backhanded compliment, perhaps they were subtly mocking him.
"Enough." Drake interrupted their pompous performance, cutting off all the voices. His stern gaze then fell on Flossie, "I will come for inspections at any time."
The implication was clear. If he caught Flossie slacking off again, the consequences would be self-evident.
After his warning to Flossie, Drake cast an intimidating look at the rest of the people in the cooking class. He exhibited the sternness characteristic of a soldier, his powerful aura intimidating everyone present. The people in the cooking class avoided his gaze and only dared to breathe a sigh of relief after he left.
Different types of soldiers carry different auras. The soldiers in the cooking class who dealt with food all day might have some military bearing, but they still looked like chefs when they stood out. However, some soldiers, like Drake’s squad who performed actual combat, had their edges and sharpness honed, standing there like a bloody sword with a killing intent that frightened people just by looking at them.
