It was that same night, after Neal Thompson had successfully handled the food hall’s riot, he made Flossie Wright and Becca Reyes write a two-thousand-word self-review on "acting impetuously and disregarding rules". They were to read out their self-review at tomorrow’s meeting. On top of that, Flossie had another self-review about "fighting" to write. According to the squad leader who left a message as he was leaving, she was supposed to write five thousand words.
In the middle of the night, after the lights-out whistle sounded, cries of "One! Two! One!" still echoed on the training ground, with new recruits being dragged around half-conscious for training. In the dormitory of the cooking class, however, there was silence. After the inspector checked the lights-out situation in the dorm, a dim light suddenly sprung to life, indicating there was still activity inside.
In the quiet dormitory, on the spacious lower bunk, two people sat side by side. The dim light illuminated the bed, casting a somewhat fuzzy outline of the two female soldiers engrossed in writing.
"Have you ever written a self-review?"
Becca Reyes, who had been holding a pen without making any movement, couldn’t help twitching her eyebrows as she glanced at Flossie, whose pen had not stopped since she had sat down.
Becca Reyes had just graduated from university and had never caused any major issues while studying. Though she could sometimes be tough, it was always done out of the teachers’ view and she hadn’t been caught yet. She never thought that only a few months into her time with the Forces, she would be hit with a self-review for "being too ostentatious" while helping handle a problem.
Frankly, it was frustrating.
Flossie paused slightly, but her eyes remained fixed on the paper. She replied casually, "All the time."
"...no wonder."
Blinking, Becca Reyes had a sudden realization. No wonder Flossie was so skilled at writing.
The night was mildly cool. The other two in the dormitory had fallen asleep, and Becca, unable to come up with a single word, looked around restlessly. Finally, she couldn’t stand it and carefully moved her stool next to Flossie, her gaze uncontrollably shifting to the paper in front of Flossie.

The first thing she noticed was the elegant handwriting. The layout was not particularly tidy nor restricted to the rules. Each stroke came with a touch of casualness, and the characters were notably cool.
The style was as unique as its author.
Very beautiful.
"Here." Flossie slid across the two finished pages to Becca without even lifting her head, offering them openly for her to read.
Rubbing her nose, Becca smiled awkwardly but didn’t hesitate to take the pages and started studying them from beginning to end. Yet, the more she read, the weirder her expression became. Doubt and surprise showcased in her eyes as if she encountered something astonishing.
When Flossie first admitted to writing self-reviews frequently, Becca didn’t quite believe it. Given Flossie’s nature, causing trouble wasn’t surprising, and writing a few self-reviews was understandable, but being constantly involved with self-reviews was something that deserved scrutiny.
But what she never expected was that Flossie truly wrote self-reviews frequently. The entire review was written in official language, directly acknowledging her mistakes, reflecting on the reasons behind her errors. It was exceptionally structured, as if an academic essay, which left Becca gaping in astonishment.
Truly a master!
A master in disguise!
"Geez, just how many self-reviews have you written?" Becca, flipping through the pages in her hand, openly showed her surprise. "You didn’t memorize it, did you?"
"Summarized." Flossie kept the same indifferent expression.
