The platoon leader’s face changed slightly, and then he fell into deep thought.
After a while, the platoon leader’s poker face returned, his expression was somber and his tone was increasingly solemn, "Bard Walker has already notified me about this in advance."
Flossie Wright’s eyes flickered, but she did not feel surprised.
The Forces were a place that respected individual intentions. The platoon leader had no reason, and also no right to retain Flossie Wright and Becca Reyes. As the platoon leader said, Bard Walker was just "notifying," not soliciting his thoughts or discussing with him.
"Iron soldiers of the camp flow like water," said Flossie Wright, who had been living in the fixed Mercenary Corps, for the first time she realized that this was the norm in the Forces.
She could not stay in one place for too long and many times, she could not act as she wishes.

"What do you think?"
After a pause, the platoon leader asked Flossie Wright, his eyes profound but full of lingering doubt.
He was not worried about what Becca Reyes would say because there were things in the Forces that could still retain her. But Flossie Wright was quite different; he hadn’t been able to discern the thoughts of this young female soldier over this period. He couldn’t believe that Flossie Wright would genuinely enjoy life in the Forces, or that she could maintain the proper mentality for being a soldier.
However, Flossie Wright did not answer him directly but digressively asked, "Platoon leader, you were acquainted with Glenn Hutchinson in the past, right?"
The platoon leader nodded in bafflement.
Then, Flossie Wright casually continued, "They say you liked him."
Without a doubt, the platoon leader’s face turned as black as the bottom of a pot, and he yelled at Flossie Wright with revved up anger, "Which troublemaker said that?!"
Slightly squinting her eyes, and not considering his wrath, Flossie Wright asked, "How did you get to know him?"
The platoon leader was dumbfounded again.
The initial anger miraculously subsided, and he looked at Flossie Wright with full suspicion, roughly understanding the trap she had set for him.
"Want to dig up old stuff?" The platoon leader furrowed his brows, pointing to the vegetable field and, without good mood retorted, "First, pick all the fully-grown cabbages for me!"
Narrowing her eyes, facing the stern-faced platoon leader, Flossie Wright pulled out the dagger from her waist and aimed it at the lush cabbages for some violent activity. Naturally, she worked faster than the platoon leader who carefully selected and slowly picked.
The platoon leader watched Flossie’s Wright violent approach, and he couldn’t help but shake his head with a bitter smile. However, he didn’t stop her and just sighed slowly in his contemplation.
Concerning the past, he hadn’t mentioned it for a long time.
Unexpectedly, he was now talking about it with a newbie who had not been in the Forces for long.
After Flossie Wright filled all the baskets, the platoon leader, pulling a long face, finally signaled Flossie Wright to stop.
By this time, he had already sat down on the embankment, facing the rising sun. The falling shadows stretched into the cabbage field, appearing rugged and profound.
"You should know about the Forces that Hutchinson was in," the platoon leader stared deeply at her, only continuing after Flossie Wright sat down next to him, "I used to be a cook over there."
Five years ago, the platoon leader had been enlisted for three years. Even though he was a cook, his strong body and outstanding military skills stood out. Due to some chance, he ended up in the Forces where Glenn Hutchinson was, hence met Glenn Hutchinson. However, their relationship was nothing special.
