She only spoke a couple of sentences before hanging up; that wasn’t too unreasonable, was it?
After pondering for a bit, Flossie Wright sighed and redialed her grandfather’s number.
In the Wright Family, her grandfather was her main support after all. When she occasionally returned home, he was the one who helped suppress discussions about joining the Forces. It was only right to maintain a good relationship with him.
Moreover, with her grandfather getting older, Flossie, as his granddaughter, should naturally show him filial piety.
If she angered him into having health issues, that would be her fault.
"What else do you want?" When the call was reconnected, the elder Mr. Wright roared furiously.
"I passed the sniper assessment," Flossie said in a slightly gentler tone.
"I know that!"
the elder Mr. Wright replied angrily.
"Just letting you know," Flossie stated calmly.
Caught off guard by her unconventional approach, the elder Mr. Wright hummed but didn’t continue the conversation.
With a smile tugging at her lips, Flossie suddenly asked, "How’s your health now?"
"..." After a slight pause, the elder Mr. Wright replied with still apparent gruffness, "Quite well."
Then, Flossie rattled off several questions, all concerning how her grandfather was getting on, which left the old man momentarily embarrassed but noticeably softened his tone.
Once the elder Mr. Wright’s anger had dissipated, Flossie chatted a bit about the Forces, approximately filling him in on her current situation to ease his worries.
"Be careful."
In the end, the elder Mr. Wright said hesitantly.
"I know."

Flossie responded earnestly.
Before long, they ended the call.
By the time Flossie put down her phone and finished the apple, it was almost six o’clock.
Recently, with all the training, her hair had grown long, reaching her neck, and Flossie needed a comb to manage it properly.
She figured she would need to cut it in a couple of days.
Looking at the mirror on the wall, Flossie sighed slightly and then tossed the comb onto the computer desk.
Just as she was about to leave, the dormitory door was pushed open.
"You’re done?"
Belinda Nichols walked in, giving her a cursory glance and asked directly.
Flossie nodded, paused her steps, and then turned to ask, "You just got dismissed, right?"
Usually, they would go have dinner first and then return to the dormitory. Although Belinda’s routine was a bit monotonous, she generally went along with the crowd and steered clear of trouble.
Moreover, Flossie believed that she had come back right after being dismissed not because she was in a hurry to see her.
"I need to grab something."
Understanding her implied meaning, Belinda replied coolly.
Raising her eyebrows, Flossie crossed her arms, watching Belinda’s movements.
But instead of grabbing something quickly, Belinda stopped, her brow furrowed as she looked at Flossie.
"What should I give Rowdy Brightwill for his birthday?" Belinda asked without any change in expression.
Flossie looked up in surprise.
Rowdy Brightwill... a birthday?
Upon further reflection, Flossie did recall that Rowdy Brightwill was born in September, but she had never paid attention, and her clear memory of it had gradually faded.
Seeing her expression, Belinda hesitated, then added, "He once gave me a present for my birthday."
Belinda’s birthday was in July, and at that time they were out at sea training, so Flossie had no idea.
Perhaps, during that sea training, it wasn’t just exercises that happened; there must have been other events as well.
