They were both drenched to the bone.
The one walking in front had her military cap tilted off-kilter, her hair was a messy tangle, and her clothes were smeared with a good deal of mud, which made her look somewhat bedraggled.
In contrast, Cassie Ferguson, despite being in the same situation and drenched through, carried herself with undiminished presence, a cool and aloof temperament, and an indifferent expression, as if she had tamed the pouring rain.
Catching sight of the three people, Devina Millet and the other one who had given up, she merely swept them with a cursory glance.
Afterward, her gaze fell on Flossie Wright.
Unlike the others, Flossie was wearing a raincoat, clearly made from parachute material, in a trio of colors: orange, red, and green. Yet Flossie wore it with an effortless, rugged charm.
Under the brim of her cap was a pair of narrow, cool eyes, and when rain splashed into them, they seemed all the more refreshing.
Compared to Cassie’s attentiveness, Flossie seemed to pay her no mind.
After a brief scan, she withdrew her gaze.
"The other two, are they you?"
Seeing the two of them, Devina Millet furrowed her brow, showing little enthusiasm.
She didn’t care about the unknown one. But Cassie, she had taken a dislike to from the start.
It wasn’t the same kind of dislike she had for Flossie.
She was hostile toward Flossie out of an antagonism that had existed before they had even met, compounded by Flossie’s suppression of her the first time they met. It was only natural she felt animosity toward Flossie.
However, she had never had contact with Cassie.
The reason she disliked Cassie was purely because she couldn’t stand her demeanor.
Reclusive, indifferent, arrogant.
With that sort of personality—
What kind of a soldier is that?!
"Uhm," the woman soldier in front hesitated for a moment before speaking, "Cassie and I arrived at this time, so it should be us."
Devina Millet responded with an "Oh," her attitude quite chilly.
"I’m Bonnie Reyes," the woman soldier scanned the room, her gaze first stopping on Flossie, "You’re Flossie Wright, right? I know you."
Flossie responded lightly, without much enthusiasm.
"And, you are..." Bonnie looked at Devina Millet.
"Devina Millet."

Devina Millet replied coldly.
"Oh," sensing her chilliness, Bonnie shrugged her shoulders, then glanced at the one who had given up, "This one..."
"Chattering away, are you that idle?"
Before Bonnie could finish asking, Devina Millet interrupted her impatiently, irritation written all over her face.
Anyone with eyes could see, among the three of them, who had chosen to give up.
How can someone be so clueless?
Bonnie’s face suddenly changed.
Yet, she did not take issue with Devina Millet.
She was just trying to confirm, wasn’t she?!
It wasn’t like she was deliberately picking a fight!
"All right," the woman soldier released Devina Millet and wiped away her tears with her sleeve, then squeezed out a forced, unpleasant smile toward Devina Millet, "I’m fine now."
Since she had already decided to give up, nothing she did now mattered.
She was just a little reluctant, and she had let it out just then.
"Really okay?" Devina Millet frowned.
"I’m fine," the soldier’s smile softened considerably as she urged, "You guys go ahead, don’t delay on my account. The one coming to pick me up should be here soon."
Devina Millet scrutinized her with concern.
But the woman soldier seemed to have made up her mind and did not want to keep Devina Millet any longer.
With a twist of her brow, Devina Millet turned her head and glanced at Flossie Wright a couple of times.
